wait for the window period and go for test to get accurate results. best of luck!
they usually still have lesions. also having hsv1 first usually keeps them from having lymph node swelling.
Thank you for being helpful Grace. I guess I'll have to wait for a month or so then go get blood tested for herpes. I'd like to ask you one final question before I wrap up my mind. I'm pretty sure I've had cold sores in the past although its been a good few years since I had my last one. Is it possible for people who are immune to the hsv1 virus but then contract the hsv2 virus to have swollen tender lymph nodes in the groin area, headache etc?
your symptoms do not sound like they were herpes though at all dear. you can have many things going on in the genital area, it's not all herpes just because it's your crotch!
if you've never been tested for herpes then by all means get a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your status is. it's part of being sexually responsible and you might not have ever been tested for herpes before to know your status. Even if you do test + for hsv2, this wasn't likely to have been a recurrence. recurrences typically do not include flu like symptoms or lymph node swelling.
I wish I could just go with your comment and put my mind to rest. Whenever I try/hope think it could be some orther sort of fungal or bacterial infection I get flashbacks of my symptoms...swollen tender lymph node on groin area followed by headache, dizzyness flu like sypmtoms that lasted from afternoon till night..then an itchy itchy rash on pubic area and shaft of penis with small spots/blisters appearing and then disappearing by themselves..I keep thinking maybe my primary outbreak was not as painful as people make it out to be...and much milder as most people experience :(( I've been sexually active for 10 years now and the thought of having this virus in me has just ended all my interest in females as I would never like to pass it onto anyone :((
This doesn't really sound like herpes to me either from your description.
best you can do is to continue to follow with your provider as needed. if the rash reoccurs, be seen promptly again.
