Genital herpes from Oral sex

Hello there,

I am embarrassed but I received unprotected oral sex from a stripper about 4 days ago and I am terrified of acquiring genital herpes 1. I will give you the story:

I was extremely drunk but this stripper pulled me into the backroom and began performing oral sex but I was so drunk and disoriented I kind of freaked out at first and told her to stop. She convinced me to keep going and she went again but I stopped her once more. The problem is I am unsure of the amount of time she spent giving me oral sex but I do not believe it was for a very long time; if I had to guess I would say less than 2 minutes combined. I did not notice any oral lesions but who knows it was so dark there is no way I could tell anyways. So I have been scrutinizing my penis for the last 3 days and I am messing with it constantly and now the tip of my penis is red and burns a little and I notice all these small dots or red dots but I'm positive they have been there before, I think they are just normal bumps on the head of the penis. I have never had a cold sore in my life and I have been tested previously for HSV 1 and HSV 2 and were both negative 2 months ago.

My questions are?
1.) How likely would it be that I acquired genital HSV 1 through a short oral sex experience
2) What is the EARLIEST conceivable time I could get an HSV blood test, could I get it at 10 days? Is there any evidence that you can get good sensitivities that early in infection?
3.) Have you ever had experiences before where people in similar situations acquire genital herpes from oral sex?

Thank you very much!
-John

If you tested positive on a swab test, typed or not, the changes are overwhelming in the favor of you being infected.  False positives on swab tests are very rare indeed.  They do happen, but are very very rare.  Obviously if you have virus on your penis, you are infected.  I'm not sure how your doctor could come to a different opinion.  but it is important to know the type at some point.

I think one episode of receiving oral sex is unlikely to result in infection for you.  The odds are not zero, but they are low.  The earliest time I would suggest getting a blood antibody test would be 3 weeks past the contact.  The final test should be 4 months from the encounter.

However, if you develop sores (not the red bumps that you describe), I would go in immediately to get those swab tested.

I know you feel somewhat frantic about this, I can feel it from your post.  Do you have a regular partner as well?  If yes, does your partner get cold sores, or has ever had them?  Does your partner give you oral sex?  If yes, then the risk is far greater from a regular partner than from this brief encounter with he stripper.
