Getting herpes 1 genital without being sexually active.

I was just told I have HSV 1 genital, but I have never had sex or oral sex or givin oral sex.  I am not understanding how I could get this without being sexually active. I noticed the bumps after shaving and it hurt to pee so I went in and he did a few tests.  It came back I have strep and HSV 1.  Are these tests usually correct?  I am just not understanding how I got genital herpes without being sexually active.

How did they diagnose  you as having hsv1 genitally? was it a lesion culture of active symptoms or thru a blood test? If you aren't sure, call and ask.

You've never been sexually active so there's no chance for genital herpes. A positive blood test would mean you have oral HSV1, even if you've never had symptoms. Aside from that and in the future, only a swab/culture can tell you if you have genital HSV1.
