lymph node pain and swelling on jaw line and armpit, sinus infections

I started having soreness in my lymph nodes (right jaw line, right arm pit), and right back jaw pain about ten days ago, and now I can't close my jaw at all, and I'm pretty wiped out. I have been having chronic sinus infections over the past six months, and had assumed it was another infection that had moved into my ear. I saw an ENT, was tested for bacteria, Epsten Barr and HIV - all negative. She has made a referral to a TMJ specialist, which I will try to see in the next few days. I also have an appointment set up with an acupuncturist. I can't help wonder if this is related to my HSV-1. I have had one full blown HSV out break in my life about four years ago. I have a bottle of valtrex on hand in case I ever feel like I'm starting to get sick. I started taking the valtrex a few days ago. I'm wondering if I should see an immunologist since most doctors aren't very helpful about supporting HSV concerns. I've had a couple of massages that have provided temporary relief. I'm not sure what to do. Could the virus be in my jaw and neck? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have almost the same symptoms as the original poster. Has anyone figured this out yet?

How long have you had oral herpes? Do you know if you have it? Have you had a lot of outbreaks?

It would be unusual for herpes to just suddenly start causing symptoms like this if you've had it for a long time, or if you haven't been having outbreaks. It could be TMJ, which I'm told can be quite painful.

See if your symptoms fit that, and definitely talk to your doctor.

Time warp to 2017... I just got herpes positive test results today. Positive gonnorhea. They gave me antibiotics for both convinced medically it was most likely they were right. Jaw pain too swollen left side. Herpes rash between my legs no sore throat. Herpes gladiatorium is hsv1 rash. And the differences between the two are their location. If my jaw pain and rash is hsv1 then that's something. I was told I got a swollen face. It feels bad after flossing I bleed gingivitis I had before put on the numbing gel like analgesic like orajel cheaper brand my face hurts i got the nerves numb from that. Can't open my mouth now. Jaw been aching. I thought from too much oral sex. I gave a lot of oral I thought.

I just came across your question from 2009 while trying to research my own symptoms that are similar to those you had.  I have had HSV 1 outbreaks since I was a child and generally have associated trigeminal nerve pain, swollen lymph nodes, blocked sinuses and pain behind my right eye.i currently am experiencing those symptoms without an outbreak, except for a mild rash along my jaw line. My doctor has been completely dismissive of my symptoms in the past and I am wondering where to turn for medical advice.  My chiropractor has been somewhat helpful in relieving the neck and jaw pain in the past but I would like the attention of an MD. Were you successful in getting information and resolving your issues? What type doctor did you follow up with? I would appreciate any ideas or advice. Thanks
