big concern of HSV2

I have a long distance marriage. I and my partner ( I don't want to call him husband any more because I am totally lost, badly hurt and have no idea what I will/ should do when I meet him again).
I didn't have any partner except him.

We were together from late March to 4/19 this year. We have unprotected sex because I have IUD many times during his visit. He did not have any strange symptom in genital area, or at least no obvious symptoms. I started to feel itch, tingling and a little warm under May 3rd , then I went to get tested for everything. The test shows 1.03 for HSV2 IGG and I am prescribed medication (metronidazole, fluconazole) for yeast. In two days, I saw small red spot on the left side in the hairing area, so I went to see the doctor again. He prescribed me Valtrex based on my blood test and so I started to take it for two weeks before I read all about HSV2 here. My red spots never go away since May and my itching is always there. There are maybe a few days that I did not see it. It started with one in the hair area and then another one about 5 cm away grow out, and then one in the back , another one on the leg area. The most time, there are three red dots in total. If you pinch it, blood come out.  A few days after the dot came out, the skins around it about a nickel size become red and then start to all peel off, forming white dead skins. Right now, there is still one in the area where the first one show up, where is the main area that the symptom never go away. I applied antifungal cream, it seems it helps, but the dead skin peeling comes and goes in the whole last two months.

Summary: have unprotected sex with the only partner many times during late march to 4/19/2014, no sex partner before that. He has confessed that he did go to find prostitutes.

First blood test 5/7/2014 from quest diagnosis
Hsv1 igg >5
Hsv2 igg 1.03
GARDNERELLA detected

I took about two weeks of valtrex before the second blood test.

Second blood test 6/9/2014 from the same facility testing only HSV2 igg.
Hsv2 igg 1.23
After that I finished the second two weeks of Valtrex and have not refilled it.

I want to take the blood test again but my doctor said since I am already positive now, it is not necessary to do it again. I am going to see him again next Monday and will try to convince him to give me the test slip.

My Questions:
1. Is it conclusive that an increase of 0.20 in the test in a month with about 15 pills of antiviral medication input. Do I still have a hope that I may have false positive.
2. from my reading in Medhelp, I think the symptom is probably not HSVII, What it could be? what medication should I take. The antibacterial and anti-fungal medication did not work for me. some dots did have hair going inside. it is itching and painful. Is it related to GARDNERELLA detected in May/7?

Thank you so much for your help. The itching/painful symptom is not the worse part. how to deal with the marriage and whether I can take care of my two kids by myself for my rest of my life are my biggest concerns right now.

You sharing your story is very important. Thousands of people receive false positive results every day. That's not great but the best we have. We all need the information and maturity to work through to the truth of the matter. I am so glad you and your partner were able to achieve.

I hope another lesson that comes through from this board is that what counts in life is the determination to be a partnership, to be a couple with your significant other. This overcomes everything in life and herpes when it comes down to it really is way, way down the list of challenges for most every person that has it.

As for the symptom I had, it did last 1-2 months and the itching is still on. He has had the fungus infection and itching in his public hair area many years ago and it never go away even after applying different creams. This time I also found out he had one small pimple the same as I had. My symptom should come from him and it should be fungus inflections.  I used sulfur-containing soaps and anti-fungus cream. It helped a lot on the symptom. Hope this information can help others who are reading my story.

Yes, he is the only partner I had and have. I am so happy for this website which saved me from killing myself.

If your only sexual partner has tested negative then I would say that you experienced a false positive and move on. I trust he believes you now that you are negative and these false positives happen with some frequency. Having HSV1 can be a factor.

It is not necessary to follow up since he is clear, right? We are still together and try to solve the long-distance problem. Thank you for your help.

That's great news. Are you going to have the follow up test or are you both comfortable to move on?

I have suffered so much from this false positive. My relationship almost broke down. Hope this experience will give others more hope. Hope more doctors understand the common existence of false positive, maybe especially with high HSV 1 values. My suffering mainly came from my doctor who kept saying that I have hsv2.

Thank you for giving me the hope. My only partner has tested positive HSV1 igg 1.67; HSV 2 igg 0.06. So I am clear.

Thank you so much for your help! He does not want to get tested and keep saying he is busy. I am so scared and have been fighting with him on the phone all the time. I did not have place to talk about this except him.

I agree with your concerns. There is certainly a chance that the HSV2 test result is a false positive.

Wait until 16 weeks after the last time you had for the retest.

It would also be useful for your partner to test as of course he needs to have it for any chance of you having it.
