Did the hsv 2 numbers go up from the results back in Sept 2015 because the outbreak had occurred in April or do the numbers steadily increase over time?
Hi, I just received my 2nd test results from April 2016. It's says 33.80 for hsv 1 and 18.00 for hsv2. To recap, I got a 1st outbreak very mild on April 6. Based on the results, could I have had this well before my 1.5yr monagamous relationship? I am so beside myself. Never had any type outbreak ever. The swab test also says hsv 1 naa, negative and hsv2 naa positive. What does all this mean?? :(
The dtr said 18, but dint know if she meant .18. And yes the swab was done on genitals, not oral which resulted hsv1 negatibe and hsv positive...thk u all for the feedback!!
The way I read it the outbteak and swab were from the genitals.
Let's condense things a little and try to make sense. I think Trich is probably a red herring here so let's focus on HSV until resolved.
I think this is what happened...
September 2015 you test positive for HSV1; this most probably reflects an oral infection from your youth. Your HSV2 is a low positive and given the HSV1 result provides no real evidence of a HSV2 infection.
April 2016: you have an oral lesion swabbed and this comes back positive for HSV and there is a suggestion it is HSV2. You also have a blood test that again shows positive for HSV1, as it should, and you need to get the actual HSV2 result, is it 18 or 0.18 for example.
Is this all correct?
In this case I think the best thing to resolve all issues involves:
- a full printout of the culture (or PCR) swab test of the oral lesion
- a full printout of your April IgG test
- your partner could also test for IgG HSV1 & HSV2 type specific, which could add a lot of clarity
But how do you know you gave it to him and not him to you? Make sure you see a copy of his test report. Same with trich. Tell us about his Trich diagnoses, why did he test as did he have penis irritations?
Thank you and yes I want to see my recent bloodwork and culture results..yes life360 has been very helpful. Im actually not too stressed as Ive been consumed with learning about this virus, im more stressed that I gave it to my bf and now that i always had hsv1 and didn't know it...my dtr actually lied to me when he told me my 9/2015 results over the phone..he said I had a herpes strain due to having chickenpox when i was younger..you all are the ones who have told me my actual status this a malpractice suit?
You need to get a copy so we know exactly what is going on. For sure you have hsv1. Like life360 has said. It's most likely an oral infection from your childhood.
If your culture was pos for hsv2 then you have hsv2. Have your boyfriend get tested to see if he has it as well. I know your stressed and I fully understand. Life360 has a wealth of knowledge on this subject so you're in good hands.
Grace has been away a long time and may not return
Could you please chime in too on my question? Thanks!
Yes hsv1 at 33 and hsv2 at 18 would be possible.
Thank you so much for this. wow childhood! I would have never thought that. the 2.62 was taken a few wks after sex but ive been with the same person for 8 months prior. My doctor over the phone said the current blood was hsv1 33 and hsv2- 18..is that possible??..i can't wait to get the copy so i can see all these numbers for myself!!...my bf has gotten tested and waiting on the results and is not talking to me right now, but i understand..i hope he is negative as he said he was when he got tested in Sept.
The 36 is for hsv1 and its almost certainly oral from childhood and as mentioned the 2.62 fell into the false positive range and should have been retested back then so we will never know if you had hsv2 back then for sure.
Thank you. is it the 36.40 and 2.62 numbers on my results that indicate positive? And would this mean that I had both before my relationship?
Hi, your test show positive for hsv1 but your hsv2 falls into the false positive range in need of retesting. This occurs for true positive people when they test to early.
If you have a culure that came back positive for hsv2, this would be conclusive.
