HSV2 and medication

Hi guys,

I recently tested positive for HSV2 and I have two herpes sores on my pubic area currently. Is it an ABSOLUTE MUST to take medication for it or can I let it run its course without much trouble?

Also, besides medication, what can I do or take to speed up my recovery?

Thanks!

This didn't come from the urine.  Can you call the doctors office and have them give you the information on the test  You want to mke sure that the test was an hsv type specific igg.

hi=) thanks for the reply.

i did not take home my lab results (it's with the doctor) as I did not want my parents to stumble upon this terrible finding.

I had a blood and urine test done, so I don't know which is responsible for finding the HSV2. But I do know that my HSV2 index is 3.5.

How were you tested?  Was this a swab and culture or by lab work?  If done by lab work please post the results of your lab work so we can help you best.

The answer is you don't have to take antivirial medication.  The use of antivirals is up to you.  They will help prevent future outbreaks and speed recovery along with reducing risk to your sexual partners if any.

You can exercise all you.  The only thing you need to avoid is sexual contact until your skin has fully healed.
