HSV2??

Hi,

30 days ago I had unprotected sex with a girl who afterwards told me she had herpes. About two weeks later I started to feel fatigued and run down, I had a slight sore throat and a headache. Then I felt a bit of a sore spot on the tip of my penis, i would describe this as almost a chafed feeling. I did not see any visual signs of a sore or blister but it did feel sensitive. I got tested for all STDs and the results came back negative. I continued to feel rundown and at one point had a temperature of 99.5. I started to have constant mild chills as well as decent lower back pain. I got tested again around day 21 and they did a blood and swabbed the inside of my urethra. Both came back negative again.

Now after 30 days I am still feeling lower back pain, twitching in legs, mild head ache, fatigue, mild sore throat. I have been urinating a bit more frequent and just have an overall malaise feeling, just not myself. Would I be feeling these flu like symptoms for almost a month now with out seeing any visual symptoms if this was HSV2?

After the last swab and blood test came back negative my doctor told me he was almost certain that I did not have HSV2, is it possible to be that sure when i am feeling some flu symptoms and it has been a relatively short time after exposure?

Just looking for some other opinions and help as it has not been a fun last month. Thank you very much

As mentioned, 8 weeks with an igG test would be a good indicator but 12-16 would be conclusive.

Thank you for all these answers, much appreciated. Do you think the tests that were already done are any valid indicator or does what im describing seem like it should be tested again?

About a week with flu. Sores would show up at point of contact like the penis shaft or pubic mound area. It is possible not to have a sore develop but having all these aches your describing really dont sound herpes related

How long would the flu like symptoms (headache, fatigue, lowerback pain) last before sores and lesions show up? would it be possible to feel these symptoms for 2-3 weeks and have no visual signs of herpes and still be positive for hsv2?

Hi, testing at 8 weeks is a good indicator and 12 or so would be conclusive. Yes there are flu like symptoms associated with a recent infection but they would not last one month non stop.
