Herpes Concern After 2 Test and Several Symptoms

Before I get started I would like to state that I have a confirmed case of HPV from years ago.

About 19 weeks ago I had a sexual encounter with someone who was not very "clean". I did not use protection, but only received oral sex. The following week I got paranoid because of some bumps that had sprung up in various locations. The doctor examined the area and said it was most like folliculitis. He also ran a STD blood test on me and everything came out negative. After about 11 weeks post possible exposure more bumps popped up and I went back to the doctor. He ran another Herpes IgG test on me and the results came back negative. At that point he gave some antibiotics to clear up the break out and zoloft for my nerves. The antibiotics cleared up the majority of the bumps and the doctor reassured me that it was definitely not Herpes. At that point I was 100% confident that I did not have Herpes. 18 weeks post exposure I noticed a small pimple like bump on the corona of my penis. So I popped it and after that it became very sensitive. Which I expected, but the pain remained present for almost a week. It was slightly painful to urinate, and it started hurting while walking because it was rubbing up against my underwear. It finally stopped hurting over the weekend but a tiny red bump is still present. So at that I figured the bump was caused by friction from masturbating. So this week I noticed a small blister like bump on the upper part of my thigh about an inch away from my where my pelvis and leg meet. I first noticed it on monday and it has grown since then. Its been about 3 days now and the blister doesn't look like the bumps I originally had. The folliculitis bumps looked like round pimples  and this one looks more like an oval shaped yellow colored water blister. There is a red ring around the base of it, and it hurts when I put a little pressure on it. From what I have seen online it kinda resembles a boil or herpes blister. I am not sure how the long blister is supposed to last before bursting or if it can grow in size, but at this point I am worried that I might have herpes. From the past examinations I have done with the folliculits bumps, there was always a hair  associated in the middle of the bump, but this one has one coming out the side of the bump.

So my questions are:

1. Were the 1 & 11 week negative test  good enough or should I test one more time?
2. Does the blister like bump sound like something besides herpes? If so should I go back to the doctor to get it examined?
3. Is it unusual to have a primary breakout 19 weeks after exposure?

it never takes 21 days for a viral culture. Not sure why you were told that.

if you are negative 6 months post encounter either it really is not herpes or it was hsv1 genitally and it wasn't picked up on on the igg blood tests.  considering how often you had symptoms and in how many different locations during that time, it doesn't sound like it's even worth thinking these were caused by hsv1.

Well I found out it takes 21 days for a viral culture to be tested last week so I went in and did another blood test to calm my nerves. The IGG test came out negative on both types. The doctor said that the possibility of the culture being positive is extremely slim. The blood test was take 6 month after the possible exposure. Is what the doctor is telling me accurate. Can you test negative on the IGG test after 6 months and have a positive culture? How accurate of a test is the IGG test at 6 months?

Today I was contacted with the result of the bacterial culture, and they said it came out negative. Which leads me to believe that it will definitely be herpes, but my question at this point is there other causes for blisters other than herpes from a viral stand point? Also is there anything else that can cause blisters besides bacterial and viral? I will probably know for sure tomorrow, but I am a little frustrated they gave me one result without the other available. My head is spinning. Please advise.

you are correct - both hsv1 and hsv2 can infect the genital area. proper testing is needed to type the infection if you come back as hsv+.

encourage the provider you saw to review the 2010 cdc herpes guidelines to better educate themselves.

So I went to the doctor and he did a culture. He told me that its a 50/50 chance it could be viral or bacterial so he checked for both. He stated that he said that if it shows up positive it is definitely type II because of the location, and that both types are one in the same. I thought they 2 different form of a similar virus. My question is if it does turn out positive should I get a blood test to determine which one I have?

you need to go and be seen and get your current symptoms looked at. they could be any number of things.  if a provider suspects herpes, they can do a herpes lesion culture.
