Herpes Or Something Else???! Please answer

About 4 months afo I had a sexual encounter with a female friend. (Both oral and vaginal)... A condom was worn although it did break towards the end of it all... A few days afterwards I noticed myself getting a bit sick with flu symptoms... My mouth and tongue felt weird as well...I asked her if there's any chance that she could've passed me anything and she said no... She also told me she was tested recently ans that she was clean for whatever that's worth.

15 days later after the encounter I got tested for  HSV 2 (via IGG), HIV, Gon, Chyl, and Hep.. All the tests were negative however the shaft of my penis has been very red, itchy, burning at times, and shiny looking. I've also experienced pain at the tip of my penis when urinating at times and the tip seemed to be irritated and more red. There was no cloudy discharge but it seemed to leak a little bit longer after I got done peeing.. I also noticed a faint red dot on my shaft as well which has been there for weeks. I never really noticed it before but it seems to come and go at times... It's more visible with I'm erect and the spot itself doesn't itch or bother me in anyway. Other the the dot I haven't seen any actual lesions, pus or anything, it's just been very itchy and irritated at times..  I went to the doc and he can some blood and urine samples. Everything was normal except my blood sugar was a bit high.

I went to a urologist around the week 6 period and he couldn't find anything in a urine sample. He prescribed me doxycycline.  He told me that occasionally bacteria can enter that may not show up on any tests. The medication he prescribed  seemed to help the tip of the penis issue, however I still experienced some itching and had irritation.

I thought that I may of had a penile yeast infection to a applied monistat cream to the affected area. This seemed to help with this the redness and itching. I also noticed that that my perineum was itchy and red.

9 weeks- The itching and burning has stop significantly.. I did notice some very, very small bumps under my shaft.. You really have to look at them closely and spread they skin to see them. They don't really itch and they don't seem to be getting better or worse.  I will get a sharp discomfort occasionally from the tip of my penis... Lately my body has been twitching a lot. Arms, legs, back, hands, groin area, and lips on occasion.

4 Months- The itching has pretty much stopped but the muscle twitches are still very much there. The muscle spasms are daily. Occasionally my penis will slightly itch but that's practically normal. I contacted the girl and she told me that she have never tested positive for anything. She also says her BF got tested in October and has also tested negative... Im not sure whether I believe her or not . She's the only person I've had sex with in 2+ years . I plan on getting retested very, very soon, seeing that antibodies would likely be produced by now.  Does this sound like Herpes, any ideas on what it could be? Is it just anxiety? Thanks!

Testing at 8 weeks would be a good indicator so yes 9 would be even better but if your suggesting you contracted herpes and  muscle twitching is the symptom thats far from being informative and would appear more anxiety driven.

It's actually been 4 months since the potential exposure Ms.Grace. I got initially got  tested 15 days after exposure which I realized was way to early to detect antibodies. That's why I'm curious. Around the 9th week I developed the muscle twitching. Isn't that the same time antibodies are developed?

Bottom like is risk and the risk for contracting herpes from a one time affair where she did not have any lip or vaginal sores at the time, partially using a condom would be close to zero.
Fibromyalgia has been linked to the brain sensors of pain in which the pain is enhanced through faulty signals.
Do let us know your test results but as Grace mentions, nothing suggests youve just contracted herpes.

no reason to test next week. if you are going to test again, wait until the 3 month post encounter mark to repeat herpes igg blood tests. syphilis testing can be done after 6 weeks post encounter. hiv after 3 months also.

this sounds like a fungal infection that you treated. At this point it appears you are just overly aware of your genitals and are noticing things you normally wouldn't think twice about.

I have a question. Have you heard of any of my symptoms and Herpes being tied together somehow? What I mean by this is, could any of my symptoms be directly caused by HSV. I've read online that people with HSV have developed fibromyalgia ( muscle spasms). I have quite a bit of symptoms that can be related to herpes according to websites. I plan on getting retested today.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it. Also, do you have any idea of what it could be? I've been reading some of the discussions and apparently I'm not the only one who has suffered from this.

Thanks...Did you have any symptoms that I didn't mention? I would like to know more about this if possible.

It's quite possible, but only testing would confirm. Again, I had your exact symptoms but slightly worse and posted negative results. I still don't know what caused those issues but they have died down for me. Took many months.

Please retest via IGG to see where you stand. I would make it your last test if negative. If any lesions present itself just seek a swab with 48 hours. It's the best you can do.

I don't believe what you describe it herpes. I went through hell trying to figure out my status. I believe your retest will be negative.

It's been 121 days since the encounter. Think it's possible I may have contracted HSV1?  I will get tested next week and let you guys know. She is dead set that I didn't get anything from her but We'll see.

I just went through your symptoms and was amazed to see all issues you have had I shared as well. I had a red itchy perineum, however, mine formed a single blister that I swabbed. Area was red for a while, several weeks.

The muscle twitches hit me the hardest. My legs and calves would twitch non-stop up to 6 months exposure. It took 6 months for the twitches to die down.

I had similar penile issues, but did have burning and discharge.  Bottom line, are symptoms align but my herpes tests have been negative through 1 year post exposure. I've taken many, many HSV blood tests and the Western Blot.

Even though my encounter did test positive for HSV1 and negative HSV2, I was still convinced I got her HSV1. But as Grace mentioned, not everything is herpes I guess.

How long has it been since exposure? I would retest via IGG blood to see where you stand. Hopefully, my experience brings you some solace. Same exact symptoms, but negative on all herpes blood tests and swabs.

Keep us posted.
