Herpes? Yeast? A strange set of events.

O.k...here is the jist.
About 3 and a half years ago, I had sex for the first time and it was unprotected. At the time I would have been just turning 17, the girl had just turned 16. I do not know her exact sexual history...she had one older boyfriend on and off before me. Anyways, sometime within 2 to 3 weeks after unprotected sex I got a very strange rash on the head of my penis. No blisters, not itchy..just red patchs spread all over. I was very sexually uneducated and immediatly feared the worst, I thought HIV or something. While obsessing over this rash (which took id say around a week to two to fully dissapear) I noticed something also new, at the same time that this rash on my head had developed...so did a rash on my groin. it was patchy also...slightly pinkish, sometimes turned brown. bright red when out of the shower. anyways...i went and got hiv tested (not herpe tested) and the doctor also looked at the groin rash (the head rash had dissapeared so i foolishly didnt mention it) she said it was some sort of yeast rash and gave me a cream for it. i barely used the cream accordingly...it went away on its own, then came back...stayed for awhile, spread to my stomache and under my pec muscles...slowly spreading. i used cream on it nonstop and it would go away awhile, then come back some more...then that summer I sunbathed and it went away completeley. I had a few partners the following year which we had protected sex, and when it was unproteced i was sure of their std freeness. while having sex the rash did not appear on the tip of my penis nor the rash on my groin. the following year I had unprotected sex with a safe girlfriend...but this time the same red blotchy rash was on my shaft within the week, not painful at all. at the same time, the rash came back on my groin. the rash went away on my penis, but the rash on my groin spread, eventually once again turning up on my stomache, underneath my pecs again too. i did not seek medical treatment, but the skin rash kept getting worst and worst, each week my penis head would get a rash of some sort, sometimes little bumps, sometimes inch long cuts, lots of inflamation..very slight itchyness to the extent it may have just been in my head but surely not painful at all except during sexual intercourse. this went on for 4 months. meanwhile the penile symptoms staying consistantly aggressive, the groin and body rash spreading to my back and neck. my girlfriend at the time had zero symptoms in the vagina, or body rash. once we stopped dating i went to the doc, he looked at my body rash, said it was a fungi. gave me meds, everything cleared up. had another relationship a few months after, no penile rash, no groin or body rash. several months later....new girlfriend whom has been tested as clean. we have unprotected sex, both of us within the week exhibit the groin rash annd pain during sexual intercourse. i also develop small bumps...slightly white tipped but no fluid, no pain, no itch. the rash spreads to her stomach as well as mine. she gets some thick white discharge (not cottage cheesy...more sour creamy she said) itchyness and very brief painful urination. she gets treated for a yeast infection) i didnt recieve treatment until 2 weeks after..she got another little flare up of whatever it is...and the rash spread (although she used cream to stop it the time before) and my yeast rash spread up my neck. once we both were treated at the same time..body and groin rashes dissapeared. no longer does a rash develop on my penis like everytime before after sex. she has had no more itchyness either...although now we both find it painful to urinate (her...once in awhile, me..fairly consistantly) also...from the penile rash before i have very small red little bumps where the cuts used to be...they do not go away. a doctor saw these and said they were surely yeast. what do you think about all this? my main concern is herpes...but i know the odds of contracting it are very low when someone is not showing symptoms, and still not more then 60 percent when they are. also, i have only had unprotected with one partner whom i did not know their sexual health status (the first one) and she also had this strange yeasty rash on her stomache and sides...i may be crazy, but i feel strongly that this yeasty rash is important in diagnosis due to its corresponding role its played in the absence and presence of other symptoms. sorry for the long read.

Oh and yes - paragraphs are beautiful things, and make it much easier to read.

I think you need to see a dermatologist.  This isn't herpes, but you might have some fungal infection you both are sharing.

Fungal infections can be a bear to get rid of.

You also need to let your doc know that your gf has symptoms, and she also needs to be seen.

And you should absolutely totally avoid sex until this is cleared up.

Good luck - it sounds miserable.

World's longest paragraph. I had to stop reading after a while.

STD "freeness?" I love it. Unless both of you were tested before you had sex, then waited 3 months, then got tested again in 3 months, you have no clue about somebody's "STD freeness."

Interesting turn of phrase, though. Your last sentence should have been up at the top.
