Herpes after brief unprotected oral exposure

9 days ago (Day 1) I had received unprotected oral sex from a girl friend of mine, which she seems to have many sex partners, and the oral exposure was brief, two times all together with each lasting less than 10 seconds. We didn't have vaginal nor anal sex. I've previously tested negative for all STDs, and did not had any unprotected sex before. This is my first unprotected one.

A few days later I start to feel itching in my genital area, but there are no lesions or sores which are observable, and I didn't feel pain while urinating. For reference I am uncircumcised.

At Day 7, there are still no blisters or sores, however I noticed some redness/rash?? in the area just when I pulled down my foreskin, but it was tiny and is not painful when touched, and I don't really know whether it was a red bump or something else.

Because I was freaked out, at Day 8, which is yesterday, I went to a clinic which the doctor is a specialist in dematology and venereology, asking him whether this was initial symtoms of herpes, and after he used a magnifying glass to observe the redness area, he quickly said that it wasn't herpes, but just mild balanitis. He also said that if this was herpes, it should have blisters by now.

As this clinic was run by the local gov which is free of charge, the doctor seems in a rush and his attitude is not that good, so I feel like he didn't really observe the redness/rash thoroughly, and he tell me to return only if I discover blisters later.

Today (Day 9), I found that the original area of redness/rash seems to be getting better i.e. not so red than before, but I discover two other small area of redness/rash just below my corona at the left side, and it is also not painful when touched. The area was not really large, but kind of red. Also, I didn't experience any pain when urinating.

Actually I'm not sure if I had experienced any slight pain/burning sensation at the red area or some tingling, or that is just because I'm genitally focused and too anxious. Does anyone know if these are symtoms of herpes, and if they are, are they usually painful and exist as blisters? Normally at how many days do initial symtoms show up?

p.s. I'm going to another clinic on Monday (Day 11) to see what doctors says, whether it's herpes or not

Listen to all I have to say very carefully.  You're spinning this out of control.

1. You did not get genital hsv1. Like I said if you did you would surely know it. Your mild fever, sore throat and possible swollen lymph nodes in your neck have absolutely nothing to do with your genitals. Your lymph nodes in the groin area would be swollen and 19 days later is to late. Put hsv out of your mind. You did not contract hsv1 from this exposure.  That I am as sure of as the next statements I am going to make.

2. You have absolutely ZERO chance of hiv from your receptive oral sex. Saliva does not carry the virus, blood does. So how did her blood get into your blood stream?  It absolutely did not!

3. Syphilis is a ridiculous long shot as well. You would have had a single nasty looking sore on your penis in a few weeks from exposure.  Syphilis is incredibly rare in hetero sexual people. Forget about it.

So in conclusion you did not contract any std from your brief oral encounter with your friend. Move on my friend you came out of this exactly like you went in.

With some people that is the case and usually pertains to hsv2.  Hsv1 however usually presents with a classic firt or primary outbreak. Again your chances are near zero and I really think your anxiety over this is your enemy here.

It's been 19 days now since the oral exposure, and I still don't have any blisters, so I guess I didn't catch any hsv/herpes.

But, I'm starting to have some mild fever and mild sore throat, with a bit of swollen lymph nodes on my neck plus some general neck pain  these few days, and I am starting to worry about syphilis and hiv.......I know chances are low, but I just keep thinking that I might be the "lucky" one to have contracted these. I'm so anxious

Thanks for your reply! I just read in the forum that most people with new hsv infections do not show symtoms at all, or they are too mild to even get noticed, do you think this is the case for me?

Some even said that they develop the typical symtoms i.e. sores and blisters almost 3 weeks to 1 month later.

Also, if a few months later I was tested positive for hsv, does that means my recurrent outbreaks in the future will be as mild as my first symtoms i.e. painless rashes, if they are in the first place herpes symtoms?

This is not hsv at all. If you contracted hsv1 you would know it. Painful outbreak most likely with fever, swollen lymph nodes and body aches.  This would happen 3-10 days after exposure. Your chances were nearly zero. My advice is to stop worrying and move on.
