Herpes and tingling

I had unprotected sex 1 month ago. I got tested for STDs the following day. All the tests came back within 5 days and the herpes blood test was the only one that was positive. I know this test in unreliable and so I am going to get tested again. My symptoms over those first 7 days were burning and tingling in the genital region and down my thighs. I had no "physically outward" symptoms, like blisters, however. I took a 10 day then a 3 day course of Valtrex and the burning had disappeared. 4 days ago, I got a yeast infection ( I think) and I treated it, but there is still some discharge today. 3 days ago the burning had begun. I am feeling weak in my legs, numbness and burning around my bottom and thighs. I only have a few burning symptoms in my genital region today, but the burning/numb feeling in my legs and bottom are still remarkable. I don't know what to think. Why am I having these symptoms? Could it be something else? Why did I respond to the antivirals? I tingle, but nothing ever seems to come from it physically! Ugh! Please let me know what you think!

Sure can be as well as due to other common infections like yeast and bacterial infections which is why follow up is the best idea.

What I failed to mention is that the guy I had unprotected sex with got tested for herpes (IGG) and he was negative. Could the tingling be due to anxiety?

At this point you shouldn't be self treating anything. go to your provider and get properly treated for yeast and bacterial infections. you also have to repeat your std testing - you had all of it done far too early. You will need to wait 3 months after the encounter to test for hiv and syphilis. You need to wait 4 months for herpes igg blood testing.

well i can relate to the weird sensation in your bottom and legs. I have had herpes for 10 years now and before I break out I get a weird feeling in the back of my left thigh. It kinds feels like someone took off my skin and all my nerve endings are raw. Very sensitive to touch and really bugs me when i sit on hard surfaces. Sorry if you end up having it, but on a beter note i really have had ok luck with it. I do break out every couple of months but it's normally only one sore and with the cream i have to apply it only lasts a few days. I think the hardest part for me was telling new partners I had it, I think when you get an STD you feel dirty! but how was i suppost to know that my boyfriend of 5 years was cheating :) life ***** some times but this will not be the worst thing that happens. There is a lot of new meds and I am sure one day a cure.
