Herpes (fever blister) shot

Over 25 years ago a friend told me that when she was a teen (in the 60's) she would suffer from horrible fever blisters all over her mouth and that they would last for weeks.  She says that she went to our local hopital and was given some sort of shot and never, ever had another mouth sore.  As a sufferer myself, I have always wondered about this.  Any info???

No idea what shot she was given to be honest.  Nothing I know of that she would've been given that would've been in a shot form and would've helped for herpes at all.
