Herpes in nose or Pimple?

Hey Doc,

I had oral sex with my girlfriend of about two months. We preformed oral on each other about a month ago. She does have HSV-1 which 60% of america has so no big deal through now i know that HSV-1 can in fact get on your penis. Well past couple days the inside of my nose started to really hurt then I noticed a large red bump forming. So I put some pimple creme on it thinking it would go away but then yesterday it came to a huge white/yellowish head about half the size of a dime and it wouldnt pop. Finally it popped last night and today it feels much better but its crusted over. Now I know pimples crust over too but does this sound like HSV-2 on my nose? I do not have any signs on my lips, or penis and i have no fever or swollen lymph nodes.  Please someone give me some advice!

Herpes outbreaks can resolve quickly or slowly - it varies a good deal.  There's just no way to know about this particular symptom without more lab testing.  Sorry, wish I could be more helpful!

I have been tested in the past and test negative for HSV-1 and hsv-2. I really dont think its Herpes though I mean doesnt the ulcer stay for a couple days rather than burst then scab up the next day? Also all the pics ive seen online are that of blisters this was hard and puss filled like a pimple. I dont know im just confused and I feel like a Hypochondriac (I think I misspelled that word lol)

Well, its difficult to say.  Have you ever had a cold sore in your life before?  If yes, then it certainly is possible to get these in your nose, many people do.  I have!  But usually, people describe herpes in their nose as a group of water blisters, not something filled with pus.  But its certainly possible that this is herpes in your nose.

I might suggest that you also get an antibody test for herpes type 1 and 2 (IgG only, not IgM0 and see where you stand.  If you are HSV 1 positive, then you and your partner don't need to worry about transmission - you are both infected.

I would suggest that you get the bump swabbed for herpes, but I have a feeling its too late in the process to get an accurate result.
