Herpes in the eye?

I've have hsv2 for 5+ years now. Today, I used the bathroom touching myself (no noticeable outbreak) walked to the sink and started washing my hands. 5 seconds into washing a "soap blob" landed into my right eye. My question is can the virus transfer from my hand, into the soap blob and infect my eye? My kinda freaking out because it happen.

One last crazy question - can the virus live on clothes? For example using the bathroom then tucking your shirt in before being able to wash hands? Can it live on sleeves when adjusting?

It needs a specific environment to survive and what you describe is not one of them. Its most often contracted by direct contact and needs some rubbing and grinding to force the virus into the nerve.
Its most often more senitive with young children whose immune systems are not up to par and also you having hsv, you have antibodies now that will add extra protection from contracting.

Thank you - is the virus sensitive enough do you think that it dies off and washes away within the first few seconds off coming in contact with water? Can it survive in water?
