Herpes or not??

I had unprotected sex with my partner Sunday morning. By Monday, I felt a bit of uncomfort in my genitals. By Tuesday, I was feeling an extremely painful burn when urinating. It also burned if I moved a lot. Wednesday and Thursday I continued to feel significant discomfort when walking and terrible burning when urinating. Friday it started to feel better and today (Saturday), I feel almost no pain even when urinating. However, I continue to have some strong smelling discharge.

I went to Planned Parenthood Tuesday, and after a visual examination the dr acted pretty sure I have herpes and started acyclovir. I did have her do the culture though, so I am ANXIOUSLY waiting on that. All I can see are 2-3 white areas near my vaginal area and 1 small white pimple looking bump. I am surprised I am feeling so well after reading about the agonizing initials of so many others. Do you think there is anyway my dr. Was wrong and that bump and pain could be something else or should I resign myself to the visual diagnosis being pretty accurate.

Hi, just wait for the test but your correct that genital herpes sores should be painful and from what you describe i dont think these are herpes sores but they are know as the great imitator and very will could be.
Also the painful urination if bacterial or viral would not have come from an incident the day before as takes time for them to grow and cause discomfort.  Your urethra may have become injured from the sex act itself.

She said for now just treat it as negative and she can't really explain the sores. Do you think beings the sores went completely away in 4.5 days after they showed up and were only painful for several days plus the negative test that I might actually be in the clear?!

Not to pop your bubble but swab tests are great for showing a positive but are infamous for showing false negatives. I would work with  your doctor as he or she knows what they are doing to mention the false negative.

It was a viral swab of the "sore." I got it done 2 days after the unprotected sex. She just said it was negative.

Got the best news today! It came back NEGATIVE!!! However the dr. Was still like "well I saw several sores down there and it looked like herpes, so I hope it's not a false negative." I really thinks its negative though because I was completely pain free by Saturday and at that time their were absolutely no sores or anything. Hallelujah!!!

That is what I am praying for. I have no burning at all today and very little if any discomfort. I am hoping the white spots I see are caused by something else. I am just cautious about being optomistic, as I don't know why the Dr. at Planned Parenthood (someone who is obviously familiar with STDs) would act so certain that they were Herpes. If the white spots are ulcers from Herpes, do you think they would still be burning? Thanks so much for your help. As you can tell, I am freaking out.
