Herpes or razor burn?

Hello doctors,
I have noticed that occasionally (always after shaving my pubic region) I get a rash where I have shaved. It is itchy and there is always bumps involved. About a week ago, I had just shaved and both recieved oral and had intercourse. Two days later I started to notice the reoccuring rash in that region. I have hsv-1 and get the occasional cold sore. That same day, I noticed a cold sore coming on. I have a prescription for Valaciclovir but only had one pill remaining. I took it and the cold sore never appeared. The rash down there did not get any better. I have heard that most people often confuse herpes for razor burn. Could I be having outbreaks and mistaking it for razor burn?

Hi, from what you wrote it all seems connected to the shaving. I do believe in coincedences but the shaving and cuts are happening at the same time.
If they showed up and you did not shave, it would be possible have have contracted it in the genital area. Not so much by you giving it to yourself but maybe a lover contracted it oral from you and gave it to you through oral sex.
These are low probability but had to mention the possibility.
Only swabbing of the area would confirm.

Thank you for your response.  I've never had this problem when I wasn't shaving. It always happens after shaving and experiencing friction in the freshly shaved area. I was thinking it was razor burn but was looking for a second opinion. I can be quite the worry wort.
