Herpes?

Hi lil over 3 weeks ago I had unprotected sex.. A week and half ago I saw what looked like red bumps/pimples at the bottom of my Pubic area since then most of then have disappeared and can barley see the others.. These bumps were not painful or itchy but 5 days after I noticed the bumps I started to get a burning sensation in that general area and groin .. I still have slight burning today but am worried this could be herpes ? I'm goin to the doc for testing this week but am still in panic that it could be herpes.. What do u think? Could this be something else? Thanks

It could be folliculitis.  Did you happen to notice if the bumps were at the bad of hair follicles?  Did they just fade away or did they scab over?  It's always mosts helpful to be seen by a health care provider when the symptoms are at their most dramatic and it is far more difficult to sort out what's what when they are healing or gone away.  If there are no bumps to swab, they will likely do an antibody test.  This will give you baseline information, but three weeks is not long enough to know for certain whether you contracted herpes in this particular situation.  You will need to wait 12-16 weeks for greatest accuracy to determine if this particular incident could have resulted in you getting herpes or not.
