Hpv, herpes or HIV?

I had PROTECTED sex with my partner several times (Each time was protected) I did have UNPROTECTED oral sex with him also. Ever since I first had sex with him I've been sick off and on for two months. I went to get antibiotics from my doctor and the "sickness" somewhat went away. I had sex with him one last time (protected) and two days later my vagina felt swollen and had a large amount of discharge that was unusual to me. I thought I was having a yeast infection due to the antibiotics I had been taking for this cold so I took some yeast medicine and the swelling and some of the heavy discharge went away. I started having a real dry mouth & bad breath when I'd wake up in the morning which I never had before all this. I also had a single bump near my anal area a few months back an thought nothing of it and now I see two more months later that are in the same area but are VERY, VERY small and look like 3 little pimples to me so I went to planned parent hood and they didn't tell me for sure that is was HPV genital warts or herpes they just said they look like they are going away on their own or it could be musculosum so they treated them with acid anyway. They haven't fully gone away and I haven't noticed any new bumps down there but what I did notice later was a bump on my lip (that went away on its own) and a small little bump on the corner of my mouth that isn't very visible & hasn't gone away! it's been weeks. I'm scared I have HPV or herpes in my throat and down below. I also recently have had extreme anxiety & stress the past two months (car accident, money problems, starting to commute to school an work on my own for the first time) I ended up going to my main doctor for a pap smear because I was researching and getting worried even though planned parenthood acted like it was not a big deal ( I just turned 21 by the way so I needed a pap) I got my pap and It came back somewhat abnormal so at the moment I am waiting to see another doctor to find out what this really is. They aren't being really urgent about this either.. I am so nervous and scared! I've seen the procedures that are done when precancerous cells are found and I'm terrified this could be worse than I think.. All this at once is too much to handle! I even started thinking about HIV which I've been tested several times negative in my past and twice, two months after I had sex with the same partner I speak of now. I know all this seems very confusing.. I really don't know what is going on with my body.. I think all this stress is causing my immune system to act up.

An abnormal pap test can be due to many things. was it just reported as abnormal or did it have a + hpv result too? If you have a vaginitis going on, that can cause abnormal paps too.

do your symptoms sound like genital herpes? they could be but it's more likely it's something else going on. did they properly test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally when you were seen at PP or your regular provider?

at this point all you can do is to continue to follow up with your provider or your gyn to try to get to the bottom of things.

Hi,

I can assist with the HPV.  I've worked in the science field for 13yrs in infectious diseases and currently train lab ppl to test for HPV using DNA testing.  8 out of 10 ppl get HPV by the age of 50...it's like a common cold and you should not worry about it.  It will usually clear from a woman's system in about 2yrs and you typically will not have symptoms.  just the usual yeast may pop up...i have HPV myself and have had it for at least 5yrs, the high-risk type at that.  i get pap's every 6mos to stay on top of it and did have a LEEP procedure.  it's rare for a woman in the US to get cervical cancer due to HPV but not 100% impossible.  your docs will just want you to come in more often to get your pap's and it is sexually transmitted but like i said is SO common.  I hope this helps...but read up on HPV.
