Surprise Test Results - False positive?

Hello,. Thank you for hosting and providing a great outlet online.  I've read many posts and have learned a lot.  I recently got a full STD check through an online resource at the urging of a new GF.  The screening was to test for 10 STDs.  I was negative for nine but was completely surprised to see I was positive for HSV2.  I've not processed it yet and am hoping for a false positive, although I'm not sure that is likely.  The HSV1 igg result indicated <0.91, however the HSV2 igg was 4.54.

I have been in a long monogamous relationship until for months ago.  I have had unprotected sex with one female about for weeks ago.  I don't have any symptoms. I have been reading a lot throughout the forum about potential false negatives and have seen both three and five as reference values.  Is it possible that this was a false negative?  Should I retest or pursue a WB test?

I am in shock and doing a lot of research.  I'm not sure what this will mean for my relationship.  I appreciate your help and guidance.

You contact the university of Washington and they will send you the kit. Have your Dr draw the blood and send it back to them

Anything under a 3.5 is suspect. Your value is a little over that. That being said taking another igg hsv2 to see if that value stays there is not a bad idea. The WB test is the best course of action as it will prove it one way or the other.
Asymptotic hsv2 is possible and I highly doubt it was from your single unprotected exposure. Most people who are at risk for hsv2 are in long term monogamous relationships where one partner has it and the other does not. You might want to ask your long time partner to be tested.
I wish you the best of luck and hope everything works out for you.

Thank you for your response.  I didn't realize that my chances were less on a one night exposure.  I will reach out to my long term partner to inquire.  We were exclusive and it seems unlikely, especially since neither of us had any symptoms.

Also, do you know if there is an easy way to get the WB test done?   My PCP was not aware of it.   Thanks again
