Hsv1,2 igg is 5.3 and igm is non-reactive

Hello community experts,
I am 33 male from India. I had protected sex with a commerical sex worker on 23 September this year and since then I am continuously experiencing burning, pain, and itching in my penis. It is mild now at one month but still there. It usually starts after morning erection and at night I can feel the discomfort in my sleep. When this happens my urge to urinate increases. These symptoms very obvious and severe on 5th day after the sex. The next two weeks I was on antibiotics and it helped a lot. Today, my report of HSV1,2 igg and igm at 1 month time came. The igm is non reactive but igg is 5.3. Before 23 September I had protected sex with a commercial sex worker six to seven months ago. I havr been active with CSW in last few years but always used protection and the comdom never broke or slipped. I am worried that 5.3 is too high to be false positive.
Please tell me the way forward.
Thank you.

Hi feelingundone,

Should I take the western blot for 1 and 2 both? If yes then when?
I hope you could see my test result posted above.

Hi feelingundone,

I am able to copy and paste the test result from the PDF I downloaded from their website this morning. This is the second test done by different lab.

I am constantly feeling pain in penis since last 4 days. Is it hsv type 1 on genital in my case? I can tell you that I never received oral without a protection. In fact, only 2 or 3 orals with protection in few years but my penis did touch other body parts of CSWs like hands, legs, breast without any type of protection.

So far, two reports from two different labs both testing positive at one month of last exposure. Can I assume the first lab which tested 5.3 without specifically which type too concluded for hsv type 1 even though there is a huge difference in the numbers 5.3 and 3.15? I would like to believe that the latest test is more accurate than previous. I found them more profelssional.

What does your experience say? What should be the next course of action for me?

I think the result was not copied properly in the last answer.

I also forgot to mention that I woke up with fever and a painful thing under my armpit in the middle of the last night. Not sure if its a blister or lymph node. It's not filled.
For some reason, the result is not getting published on the site as it's written in the PDF.

Hi feelingundone, I have a question. I keep reading Western Blot for HSV at University Of Washington. What does it mean? Is it only available in USA not outside?

Your welcome. Make sure you get a type specific test so hsv1 and two are tested separately. I wish you luck and please keep me posted

They collected my blood sample for type specific tests. I found this lab more professional. I have complete faith in God. I hope that the previous test with result REACTIVE was not accurately done.

I see the pick but its to small to see and when i down load it and enlarge it just blurs out.
I only advise pcr testing if there is a lesion or infected area. I really do not suspect you contracted hsv from your protected encounters

Thank you for putting the efforts, feelingundone. I appreciate it. I will do another igg test at different lab who did my hsv igm, hiv, syphilis, chlamydia, all came back non reactive.
By the way, I never had unprotected sex with any woman. I always used two condoms and they never failed.

I have also uploaded it in Photos section of my profile. I think you will have to use the full site instead of mobile site.
It looks like they also have PCR quantitative test for herpes. Will you advice that?

Post the image to your profile pics. Condoms are very effective against std's including hsv. A new study shows when a condom is used correctly they are 96% effective.

Thank you feelingundone for the reply. Is there anyway I can show you my test report? I have tge image and pdf both. Please can you tell me why condoms are not effective against herpes. I am unable to undeterstand the circumstances/situations in which I can get herpes even after using condom. Thank you once again for time and what you are doing in these community for others.

Your protected encounters were an extremely low risk for any std including herpes.

Was tbw igg a combined test for hsv1 and 2 ? If so they are pretty useless. See if you can get a type specific test for each.
