It's absolutely possible to have contracted oral HSV1 at the same time as having contracted genital HSV1. We often don't have symptoms until long after we were exposed. It's odd that the outbreak below came before the outbreak above, but it could happen You may also have contracted oral H a few weeks after genital H, since your system would not have generated enough antibodies by that point to protect against a second infection. Finally, during the same window, you may have passed it from below to above with your fingers.
Sores on the tongue usually are not caused by H, except for the primary infection,. but you might have it swabbed again, just to rule out other possibilities. Good luck to you!
So you had a swab of a genital and tested positive for hsv1 and a swab on a lip sore and tested positive for hsv1? Very rare.
I was diagnosed via culture swab in March during my primary outbreak and then confirmed it in August with a blood test which was positive for hsv1 but negative for hsv2.
Hi, how were you diagnosed with genital hsv1? Also if your having many outbreaks talk to your doctor about the possibility of taking antivirals to help.
