Incubation period for HSV 1

If I were to come into contact to HSV 1 (oral herpes), how long after exposure would I get symptoms.

The reason I am asking is because the exposure happened last night and the symptoms (chills, headache) started within 12 hours).

I am talking about oral herpes, hsv 1.

I think you worry too much about oral herpes. as I said, many things this could be. unless you get an obvious cold sore within the next week or two, no quick way to know if you contracted hsv1 orally or not.

Yes I have always tested negative for both strains. I understand that the cold sores take a few days to appear, but what about the initial symptoms (chills, etc..)? It just seems that these started way too abruptly.

I haven't had any real pain, I have just had some chills, and some very minor muscle aches that could be due to anything. No fever or anything.

I am always super super paranoid about hsv-1.

Do you think this sunds like an initial hsv 1 outbreak or not? I jus think that any symptoms starting within 24 hours should not be related.

usually it takes a few days until you see obvious cold sores.

many viruses going around this time of the year so this could be many things causing your symptoms.

have you ever been tested for herpes to know your status prior to this?
