Ingrown hairs

How long after shaving does it usually take to get ingrown hairs? I have HSV-1 genitally and have only had one outbreak. Any time I get even a little redness around the hair follicle I pop a Valtrex and some Lysine just in case... I shaved about a week ago and today I noticed just little redness around a few hair follicles. No tingling feeling or anything.. Am I being paranoid? Any advice or insight would be much appreciated.

I was just diagnosed with this BC of bumps when shaving... I was just tested two months ago and didn't have. I have never had an STD and I had the same symptoms last year as I do now and was diagnosed with folliculitis which is from shaving... Went to show my Dr, a new Dr and before testing me she told me herpes... Deff feel like she is wrong, but going for second opinion

I think it is worthwhile giving your body more of a chance without antivirals. With genital HSV1, you may not experience outbreaks at any great frequency, trial your body out.
