Is 12 weeks a good indicator?

I've recently been tested for herpes HSV-1 and HSV-2, both tests coming back negative (<0.90). I was really only being tested as a precaution, as in my last relationship the guy I was with told me he was with a girl before me who tested positive for HSV-2. He had tested negative on all of his STDs about a week before becoming involved with me (which I saw and could verify). The last day I slept with him was June 12th. I got tested first on the 27th of that same month, which came back negative (not sure who manufacturer was). Later on in August, I ended up having what I was told by my doctor after she ran some tests was a yeast infection, but I was still worried about herpes so I got tested again. My tests were run on September 4th, which puts me at exactly 12 weeks since the last exposure. This test was a Herpeselect IgG HSV-1 and HSV-2.

As fate would have it, I got a call from my ex on the 16th that he has herpes, and he claims he has not been involved with anyone besides me. He must have contracted it from his previous relationship. Luckily I got tested and my results were negative (again <0.90), but I'm still afraid that I tested too early. Should I get tested again in a couple of weeks at the 16 week mark, or should I trust the negative results at 12 weeks? Besides discharge and itching, which were likely caused by the yeast infection, I haven't had any obvious symptoms.

I'm sure I should let this rest, but I've been having some issues. I keep getting this rug burn feeling on my labia, but I see no lesions or sores that would suggest a herpes outbreak. Also this rug burn feeling has persisted for almost two weeks, possibly longer. I have been abstaining from sex, so it's not friction. However, I stretched the area out when looking for lesions, so maybe I rubbed the area too much.
I'm concerned it might be herpes and I could just be a weirdo outlier when it comes to the blood test. I've been tested for yeast, BV, trichomoniasis, UTI, and other STDs, but all my results have been negative. Also my anus has been really irritated lately, and just yesterday after I used the bathroom, there was blood on the toilet paper after wiping that area. Granted, and sorry, TMI, that was after I had diarrhea. My doctor had looked at it and suspected it to be a hemorrhoid, but that was about a week ago before there was bleeding. I've been taking sitz baths, which seems to help.
I don't think my lymph nodes are swollen, I haven't had any obvious flu-like symptoms, no pain while urinating, and as stated before no visible lesions or blisters. Not to mention a negative (<0.90) Herpeselect IgG test at 18 weeks. I've read that seroconversion could take up to 6 months, but seriously? I'm pretty sure I read something like 90% to 95% of people will show a positive by 16 weeks. But I'm not imagining this irritation, and my doctor doesn't have an explanation for me. I'm at my wits end, and not to sound crude, but I really want to have sex with my boyfriend. I suppose nothing is really stopping me from doing this, but I'm terrified to transmit something to him. He's the kindest person I know and he doesn't deserve this feeling. I've been completely open about it and he insists that he doesn't care, but I do.
Anyway, I probably just answered my own question, but I don't know what else this could be. Maybe folliculitis? This is driving me crazy.

I think valacyclovir, acyclovir, or famcyclovir (antivirals) are going to be the best treatment for your outbreak. Herpes is a virus, and doxycycline and metronidazole are antibiotics that treat yeast and bacterial infections, not viruses. They will do nothing for your outbreak. I know you directed your question to Fleetwood20, but I thought I would point that out. I'm a pharmacy technician, so I know a bit about pharmacology.

Yes, we both were tested with the Herpeselect test IgG antibody blood test type specific for both HSV-1 and HSV-2, and both of our scores were negative respectively.

That is a good outcome in light of an unreliable previous partner.

Just checking that you definitely had IgG antibody blood test type specific for HSV1 and HSV2 and both you and your boyfriend both have 2 negatives (or <0.91 for Herpeselect testing)

Just to let you know, I got tested (Herpeselect) again on October 17th (18 weeks after exposure) and my results were negative. My current boyfriend was also tested and his results were negative as well. I'm still having some itching and discharge, but it looks like herpes is not the culprit. I have seen a gynecologist, but she did not find any yeast or bacterial infection. I am going to see my regular doctor for an ultrasound per her instructions next week.

Yeah, I plan to retest next week anyway just for peace of mind. Thank you so much. This has cleared up a lot of anxiety for me!

Fortunately testing is more reliable than the stories of some partners!

At 12 weeks with a negative for both HSV types then that is conclusive.

I imagine you are a proponent of mutual testing before sex now, that would be a good time to retest for additional comfort surrounding you a no that partner about STD status.

Well AFTER his first outbreak he had a blood test and it was positive. I thought it was pretty unusual, too. But it's only freaking me out more! If he doesn't show any signs or symptoms for 5 months what does that mean for me? I know everyone reacts differently to the virus, though. Also I have no visual symptoms and tested negative after 12 weeks. He did not get tested again until after his first outbreak. He SAYS that after he ended things with me he wasn't with anyone else, so by process of elimination he must have been infected by his previous partner.

I take it he was negative for HSV1 and HSV2 from the testing he took from the outset?

It would just be a little unusual that it would take from the beginning of April to the beginning of September (5 months) to have a first 'outbreak' if you didn't have HSV previously.

No need to overthink this, but I do wonder if he really has a confirmed diagnosis or just a suspicion at this time. His blood test would have to be positive by now. I'd also wonder if he is including protected encounters since being with you in the 'no one else' comment.

I found out only after the fact that he waited only 3 weeks after his previous relationship to get tested.
I was involved with him from the end of April until June 12th. He did not undergo any testing after we became involved until his first outbreak earlier this month. I was irresponsible and didn't educate myself on the risks before becoming intimate with this person. I assumed that because his tests were negative that it was ok. I didn't know herpes could take as long as 12 to 16 weeks to show on a blood test. Now that I do, I want to take every necessary precaution. I wish I had done so from the beginning.

At 12 weeks, with no previous HSV1/2 and no distinct symptoms, you would have to include that you do not have a HSV infection.

There is something that doesn't quite ring true in your partner's story. Perhaps clarity on the following might help:
* How long was it from his last exposure to the HSV2 partner until his blood test that he showed you prior to the relationship?
* How long did you have a relationship with this person?
* Did he undertake any testing post the one you saw at the outset?
