Is it herpes?

I had unprotected sex back in August with someone I didn't know. About a week after, I started to itch really bad, mostly at night. This went on for over a month and then stopped for two weeks while I was on antibiotics for a urinary tract infection. The itch has come back now and so far it has lasted over 2 weeks. I have not seen any sores, but I have read that many people don't have sores. I have had very minor fever - 99.3 and swollen lymph nodes. Also it burns when I pee. Took an HIV test yesterday and it came back negative. All other STD test have come back negative. Have not done a herpes test though. Could this possibly be herpes?

Also, I wanted to do a herpes test yesterday, but the doctor spent 10 minutes talking me out of it saying that the test is not so great due to false positive and negatives. Has anyone else heard of this??

First of all it is way too early to test for either HSV or HIV ....... HSV needs around 16 weeks post incident and HIV needs at the very least 3 months to return anywhere near an accurate result,so you need to repeat those tests again in a couple of months time ...... I dare say it could be Herpes since all unprotected sex brings with it the risks particularly when you know nothing about the person .....
