Is it possible this was a herpes outbreak

Okay, it's been almost a year that this happened to me. But, I had unprotected sex with a guy and at one point he spit in his hand and rubbed it on my vulva like a lube. After I was kind of sore as I had gotten kind of dry after a while. A few days later I noticed a rash that almost looked like a diaper rash. It was itchy and almost like patches and raised. Soon after that I noticed bumps like the kind I get when I shave down there but very smooth not painful. I shave frequently so I just assumed it was that. About a week after the sex maybe a bit sooner he had cold sore on his chin like where his goatee was. Do you think what I experienced was an outbreak? Recently I got tested for hsv1 and 2 and was posting for hsv1 I can't remember having a cold sore ever that I know of but both my parents do get cold sores and wonder if I could have just gotten it fr years of sharing drinks and food or kisses. Also want to add the symptoms lasted a while and never really went away till like almost 3 months later there was never any oozing or scabbing. Does it sound like maybe that guy gave me hsv1 on my genitals or could I always have had it?

You did not contract hsv from this exposure. Hsv is not teansmited by spit. Your hsv 1 infection is most assuredly an oral infection from tour youth.
If you truely were hsv neg and he gave you hsv1 of the genitals believe me you would know it. Hsv1 of the genitals has a bad initial outbreak with painful sores and flu like symptoms such as swollen lymph nodes,  fever and body aches.
Your stmptoms are not hsv and most likely were from being dry or just a small reaction to something.

Thanks for your reply feelingundone it does make me feel a bit better.. im just so worried since I don't ever remember having a cold sore in my life that this sexual encounter could have been what caused my positive hsv1 result. I am so terrified to transfer this hsv1 to my current bf genitally if that's what I have.
What would be the only way to know for sure?

Okay. It really does not sound like hsv and I still think it's an established oral infection. If you ever have these symptoms again go see your physician and have it looked at. Just to be safe.
Reasons I do not believe your hsv 1 is  genital

1 your symptoms do not lead me to believe that you have genitsl hsv.

2 if he did not perform oral sex you can rule that out. Like I said spit is not an issue.

3 if he did have hsv1 on his genitals it sheds so infrequently that getting it from a single exposure would be very rare.

4 most if not nearly all genital hsv1 infections are from oral sex.

Did you get the test around the same time as your symptoms?

No I just got the test done maybe a month ago. These symptoms I mentioned happened almost a year ago which I never had them examined or tested. I guess I just assumed and hoped it was due to razor burn what was weird is that they lingered for so long like I said I wasn't back to normal from those symptoms till like almost 3 months after they appeared. And since then I haven't experienced anything but recurring bacterial infections. There was one time that I felt like something bit one side of my labia and when I took a look it was swollen and i had something that looked like it may have been a sore almost like when you have an ant bite and scratch it so much the tip tears or something I put neosporin on it and after a few minutes swelling went down and the next day I couldn't find it(the ant bite looking bump)

To have a cold sore or outbreak is the only way to know which region you have it in. The fact that your parrents get cold sores is a big indicator that your infection is oral.
It would be rare to get hsv1 in the genitals and not have a classic outbreak (painful with flu like symptoms) that is very miserable.  Asymptomatic hsv of the genitals is more for hsv2 not hsv1
Hsv1 orally is so very common. Just avoid kissing and oral sex during a cold sore (if you get one). If indeed its genital which I ddon't believe it is. Then its not a geeat concern either as it sheds very little and has few outbreaks. In fact many woman never have an outbreak after the first one
Believe me when I say hsv1 is not a great concern and we have all dated or slept with people who have it.

Also many many people have oral hsv1 infections from childhood who do not get cold sores.  Very common
What blood tests did they give you? Igg, igm or both.
One more tid bit. Hsv is not transmited by spit so if he didn't perform oral sex than your chances from that exposure giving you hsv1 is basically none

Okay. I really hope youre right ive been worrying so much about it even though it was almost a year ago by now. I had the igg type specific test done. Hsv1 was positive with 7.20 result and hsv2 was negative <0.91 result
