Is this a herpes sympton?

I recieved oral sex on 31st December 2011 and ever since then strange things have been going. My penis and testicles became itchy the very next morning and since then i have just felt uncomfortable. A few weeks ago i noticed my penis seems to be swollen and this has got me concerned. I read somewhere about a swollen and itchy penis could be due to herpes, are these typical symptons? These are the only things i've noticed as a problem but it has me concerned.

no std makes your penis feel hard.

No, i haven't been to my doctor anymore. There isn't any other problems other than my penis feeling hard so i have held back from going. Is there any std that could cause this without showing any other symptoms?

I have been seeing this guy for about month.  He just had a physical exam last week, He had taken a blood test and the results were positive for herpes.  He is pointing the finger at me, and says he has never been with anyone else besides his ex-girlfriend for the last four years. This truly bothers me because I have no symptoms and I have only been with him.  I also know that he and his ex-girlfriend were trying to have a baby these last four years, and have been unsuccessful. He believes that his ex-girlfriend does not have herpes because every six months they have taken blood tests due to fertility issues and says that both of their blood test has always been negative until now. My question is can herpes decrease fertility, and can the virus lay dorment for years?

have you continued to be seen regularly by a medical provider for your concerns?

Is there any other stds it could be? My penis still feels hard and the itching occurs at times. The hard feeling in my penis hasn't gone away since i first mentioned it on here, it has been persistently in this state.

if your symptoms were from herpes, he'd certainly see something.

I have been to the doctor today, he had a look but couldn't see anything wrong. I still feel like my penis is swollen, he did give me something to wash with in the shower to see if that would help but that is about it. I'm not sure what to think now, if it was herpes would he know just by having a look?

it would only be with ob's and there would be clear periods of no symptoms at all.

Okay thanks i shall make an appointment. If the swelling was due to herpes would it be like it all the time or only at outbreaks? It seems to have been swollen for weeks now.

odds are you would've had obvious herpes lesions, not just swelling.   definitely follow up with your provider monday.

I got the thought of herpes out of my head but then when my penis felt all swollen it got me thinking about it again. I went to my doctor before the swelling and they had a look around the area and they said they couldn't see anything, i mentioned about a fungus infection and he gave me a cream. He said that would help if it was to do with fungus but i never got an answer what the problem was. The cream hasn't helped. I will be going back to the doctor regarding the swelling. I know when we spoke before the swelling hadn't occured then, would it be possible to be a herpes sympton?

I haven't ever had oral cold sores and i haven't come across any blisters on the glands of my penis.

we discussed this when it initially happened and you posted about it.

no reason to think herpes at all.

have you been following up on this with your provider regularly?

I don't think hsv-1 commonly attaches to the scrotum.  It prefers mucous membranes - the glans penis (head).... Have you ever had oral cold sores in your life?  Do you notice white 'blisters' on your glans penis?  If so, it is likely to be herpes... There is a transdermal oxygen cream I use that has helped to decrease the swollen white 'blisters' (which never popped or burst for me) and also relieved the pain / tenderness.
