Herpes type 2 igg 8.95

I have been tested positive through an IGG blood test. I think the encounter came from a partner 9 weeks prior to the blood test. The test came back positive with a index value of 8.95.

Question is. Is this 8.95 considered high?
Could it be possible to have this from the encounter 9 weeks ago or does it sound like old infection?

This doesn’t sound high but more of a well established infection. While I suppose it is possible to have an index like this after 9 weeks, there really is no way of knowing. Let me know any other questions you might have.

Thanks for your reply. What’s considered high. And does higher usually mean recent?
And well established as in how long?
There is no way of knowing how long. Higher does not mean recent. When someone is infected, thier body starts building antibodies. This takes a bit of time. It can take up to twelve weeks before some people have a positive IgG score. Some start to develop detectable antibodies in 3-4 weeks. IgG index levels can fluctuate and don’t indicate the severity or length of an infection but with a score of 8.95, I would guess that you have had this infection at least 12 weeks or longer. While it’s not impossible that your score could be that high after 9 weeks, I would think this is something that you have had longer than that. Unfortunately, unless you tested shortly after the encounter and had a negative result, there isn’t any way to truly know.
To add, IgG index values are basically a confidence score. It’s not a level of how much virus you have. Anything over 3.5 is considered positive by testing standards. Over a score of 5 and it’s high.
Thank you and if I had been infected say 2 years ago would you assume that it would be higher than 8.95?
Ok so 8.95 is considered high then?
Not necessarily. IgG levels fluctuate. This is just the nature of the test. 8.95 is a firm positive score. Index numbers are in no way a reflection of the severity of an infection.
Ok thanks so by a firm positive score do you think that I have  had this longer than 9 weeks? Does a form positive score mean longer time infected? Could I have had it for say 3/4 years or is a couple of months more likely
