It has to be herpes

So a couple years ago I was clinical diagnosed with herpes. I was giving 30g of generic valtrex. Did some research and found out a clinical diagnosis isn't reliable. Stop taking the antivirals for 12 weeks and tested. Both herpeselect igg negative. waited 10 more weeks which was a total of 22 weeks and tested again and it was once again negative. So I'm thinking all is good. My wife and I get back together life goes on. Fast forward to today. I get a nasty rash on my perineum. I called my Dr and ask for a refill of antivirals it stopped as soon as the first pill got into my system. I took a total of 2 pills and stopped. Once I stopped the pills the pain came back. If this is herpes and I gave it to my wife, I'm going to kill myself. Please any comments or advice. Thanks

When you say "clinical diagnosed", what do you mean? Were you visually diagnosed?

Yes, that's not all that reliable. What is reliable is your negative tests.

There are dozens and dozens of things that cause a rash in the genital area. You could have a fungal infection (of which there are many kinds), an allergic reaction, dermatitis (also several kinds), and many other things.

Antivirals don't work like you think they do. If you had a herpes outbreak, and took 2 valtrex, it would help the healing process. It doesn't relieve pain, stop symptoms, etc. I don't know if you took 2 at once, or two over the course of a day or two, but that's not even the correct dose, and it wouldn't have done a thing, probably.

So go to the doctor or an urgent care and get this looked at. Find out what it is.

And please, suicide is never an option. Even if this were herpes, there are definitely worse things that could happen.
