Need help with results from 2 different HSV2 IgG tests

Hello,

I recently got the results from my HSV IgG test:
HSV-1 = 0.5
HSV-2 = 2.4

Since this was a low positive for HSV-2, I had them retest me:
HSV-1 = 0.4
HSV-2 = 1.48

These results are only 1 week apart.  My doctor says I'm positive for HSV-2, but, since this is a life-altering diagnosis, I want to be certain.  So, my questions are:
- Since both HSV-2 results were positive (albeit low), should I consider myself as confirmed positive for HSV-2?
- Possible that these are 2 false low positives?
- Should I get the Western Blot test for a final confirmation one way or the other?

Thanks in advance!

After reading and researching about this extensively, it seems to me as though even the IgG test can be misleading... I have seen cases where first tests are negative and then positive, and vice-versa. Honestly, I don't even know what to believe anymore. I would be interested to hear you WB results.

At 16 weeks or more past last possible exposure then the Westernblot will be as definitive as you can get. This test is exactly what you need.

Thanks for the reply.  My last possible exposure was May 2014... and to the best of my knowledge, I've never had any outbreaks.

You should get a WB as a confirmatory test since both of ur hsv2 # were under 3 .  When is the last possible exposure?
If you have any suspicious lesion or sores ... Get it check by a doctor within 48 hours but if you never had any outbreak .... There is very good chance this is false positive!  I recently got my WB and I tested positive at 2.43 with herpesselect from quest and just yesterday got my WB result of NEG!!!!
God bless and let me know if u have any questions , S
