Oral/Genital Herpes?

Ok, I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to herpes so I don't know if this question is completely ridiculous, but here goes... The guy I'm seeing mentioned he was getting a cold sore (said he usually gets just one a year when the weather starts to change).  I've never had a cold sore before and obviously I'm not going to kiss him until it's gone, but my question is, if I were to perform oral sex on him does that increase my risk of contracting HSV?  There is nothing on his penis, but I didn't know if him having a cold sore on his lip meant the virus was more active in his system right now.  Also, a cold sore can be caused by HSV 1 or 2, right?  I don't know which his is caused by so I don't know if that matters in terms of oral sex.  Any info would be very much appreciated.  Thanks!

Look if he has a cold you cant get herpes from anywhere else in the body unless they have a visible cold sore down there too. You are good

When you say ghsv I'm assuming you mean genital herpes?  Not that I'm aware of.  But a cold sore can be caused by either, right?  At least that seems to be the case based on what I've researched online.

No risk as long as no sores on the penis. Does he have ghsv? Even then no worries
