Get a blood test..it is the only way to know 100% for sure if you have herpes type 2..get it.Good luck but if you have it its not a death sentence. peace
You should see symptoms within 2-20 days. Chances are this is low risk. Her knowing what her outbreaks is a great tool in prevention. If she wasn't having an outbreak at the time which it sounds like she wasn't chances are you have nothing to worry about. Yes viral shedding does play a roll in things but the chance overal and risk was low for a one time encounter.
If you get symptoms be seen within 24-48hrs for culture and typing.
Hello synthetic
Just to let you know that I am in the same boat as you. I had a unprotected oral 7 days ago.
She told me she was clean and both of us were drunk. I didn't check for any sores.
They said the average time for symptoms to show up is 2 weeks. I am super sensitive to any itch or pain on my penis or anus now...
I have been to the clinic 3 times..they didn't really tell me anything new..
Not sure if this helps.. just to let you know you are not the only one out there..
Thanks for answering me grace. no I have never been tested for herpes I dont think. Just wondering should I expect symptoms in 2 weeks time if they come at all? Im pretty sure I have never had genital herpes symptoms , but I do think I had cold sores along time ago on my mouth. She has told me she gets out breaks every 3 months and her last one was 3 months ago so is there a higher chance of me getting this from her? I have read the expert doctor forums , and they put alot of my anxiety to ease, but there is still that little bit that I might have been infected. I guess it is just a waiting game now to notice blisters on my penis
the risk of contracting genital herpes from a one time, mostly protected encounter is incredibly low.
have you ever been tested for herpes before to know your own status? If not, I recommend getting a type specific herpes igg blood test done this week and then repeating it in 3 months. that way you've shown her that you weren't infected prior ( if indeed that is the case ) and can prove that you were most likely infected by her if indeed you do test + in 3 months or get any symptoms between now and then.
