No tingling

Hello Dr.

I have HSV1, it starts usually on my upper lip. I feel that tingle come along, and use abreva so i don't even get anything if i'm quick enough about it. Abreva works pretty well. Anyway my problem is i got a cold sore under my nose. It started off as a pimple for a few days. The other day I tried to remove the plug and now the whole thing has turned into a cold sore, almost instantly after. There are little (plasma filled i think) bumps all over it. There was no warning, no tingle, and i've never gotten cold sores under my nose before.

I'm not 100% sure if this is the same as what i get sometimes, only because there was no tingle, and it seemed to happen from maybe the damage i did while trying to remove the pimple. I wasn't too rough, but you have to squeeze the skin. Do you have any ideas as what it is? If it is the virus, why didn't it tingle this time?

Thanks!

I'm not looking for a diagnosis. I know what I have. I guess what I'm asking is if people with HSV1 ever get outbreaks without warning? I have never gotten one without feeling that tingling sensation first.

I don't pick at my skin. Simply squeezing it would in no way and never has lead to scarring. There are different kinds of pimples, and this one happened to be a plug. They are usually easy to remove with a nose strip or something, but this one was stubborn. I had to remove it this way. My skin is generally clear, but i get these from time to time and they are easy to take care of. Within a few minutes of doing this however, i started noticing the bumps that come with an outbreak. Its just weird to me because I've never gotten an outbreak this way before.

We can't diagnose you here. If you want to know what it is, get a health care provider to  look at it and culture it.

Why are you picking at your skin? That's a really nasty habit. You can set up an infection that way or scar your skin permanently.  You should NEVER pick at pimples or other lesions on your skin. I would use one of those medicated acne pads on a pimple, just gently press the pad against the pimple and let it heal on its own.
