Odd symptoms. Herpes?

Hello,

I have been having some strange symptoms after an unprotected encounter with a guy who has HSV-2. He was not having an outbreak or any symptoms at the time. Two weeks after we had unprotected sex, I started getting these strange, stinging pains, aches and tingles up and down both legs, thighs to feet. Two days after the leg pain and tingles started, I had generalized, mild itching on my vulva.

I did have some sensitivity on/in my vagina during my period, which started about a week after the leg pains/tingles. The leg sensations would come and go at this point and were much milder. I also had the bugs crawling feeling all over. I went to the gynecologist and my doctor did not see any visible lesions inside or out. It seemed like she really didn't think it was herpes despite the fact I've never had these symptoms before and that I could have possibly been exposed.

She tested my fluids, which were acidic and I tested positive for yeast. She didn't test me for HSV because there were no visible lesions. I should note: I already have HSV-1. I've read that means you can have a milder initial outbreak if you contract HSV-2.

A week after my doctor's visit (three weeks after I first noticed symptoms), I started feeling an aching pain in the left side of my groin and lower back. I sometimes feel it on the right but it's prominent on the left side. This is where I'm at now. I plan on getting blood work done.

Do these symptoms sound like they can be caused from HSV-2? Has anyone with HSV-2 or HSV-1&2 experienced anything similar?

Thanks so much for the feedback.

Thank you! I'll update once I get my specific results and my igg after three months.

My exposure was on Oct. 6, so 8 1/2 weeks.

I will get retested at three months but don't want to get my hopes up.

Don't waste your time with igm
My blood was drawn on November 30, so a day before 8 weeks.
I just want to be realistic is all.

If my igg is negative at 3 months, would that mean I don't have it for sure or would have to be retested again?

Igm test are extremely unreliable. Many false positives. Also, Everyone think they are one of the rare cases

Just got my blood results back and I tested positive for the igm and negative for the igg. I am not sure on the numbers but requested them.

I was having nerve symptoms and back pain again and got another examination. Again there were no lesions in or out. I guess I'm one of those rare cases.

Hey @sorelegs been reading up on your story and it's crazy cause o just sent you a message asking you if you had answers for your problem. I wonder what it is I can't think of anything else it could be and it sucks to deal with this discomfort as you know to well about. Just funny how I too started feeling this about a 3 weeks - a month after unprotected intercourse

Right now yes the burning legs are my only symptoms but I've had numerous other symptoms besides actual blisters on my genitals. @veryconfused88 have you gotten tested yet?

I haven't gotten tested yet. Just a physical exam.

Why are people having these strange legs nerve symptoms that are questioning if they have been infected or not. I'm feeling these symptoms on my legs and other parts of my body now for over a month now it's strange that doctors or medical studies have not found a link to this and herpes I hope all of this is anxiety or some other thing playing tricks on our bodies because I really don't want to have herpes

Yeah, I am curious about that as well. The only reason I was associating it with HSV was because I started experiencing those sensations two weeks after unprotected sex with someone who I know has HSV-2.

Then once I started reading online (which is always a risky thing to do) it seems like some people have mentioned nerve pain in their legs. My GYN seemed confused by me associating these pains with herpes.

Did you have any other symptoms besides the leg stuff?

Will do! I called my GYN to ask if I should take my Acyclovir since I already have an Rx to see if it would help my symptoms go away. She suggested against it.

After a week of the groin/back pain, my symptoms have pretty much gone away.
It all lasted about a month in total, but I still get random sensations in my legs.

Unfortunately at the moment I do not have insurance. But am singing up  soon and will get my blood work done. Until then I am hoping these symptoms do not reappear.

Could be genital focused anxiety

I agree with your Dr on this. Your odds were very low that you would contract the virus and your symptoms surely do not suggest hsv at all. Take your swollen neck lymph nodes for instance. Not a symptom at all. The groin nodes would be the ones swollen.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate all the info I can get.
Hi, Feelingundone. Hope this message meets you well. Fml87 and I are curious about why it seems like a lot of people associate these strange leg sensations with HSV. Is there any weight to these "symptoms" being associated? It seems so weird. Do you have any insight on this?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

I should also add that I did have swollen neck glands a week into my symptoms. No headaches. No tiredness.

Other symptoms: Normal looking white, milky discharge that has been constant once my symptoms started. Random tingles on my lower back. Brief, mild tingling sensations all over including my upper body. Sore knees.

Although I value my doctor's opinion (and really hope she's right), all these symptoms caused yeast infection just doesn't make sense to me.
