Oral HSV 2

Hello,

Is there anyone out there with HSV 2 orally? If so can you please describe what the symptoms would be orally? I currently have tongue irritation (my taste buds at the tip are inflamed and the edge of my tongue is irritated, also the base of my tongue feels raw and my gums around the molars are itchy)?  I apologize if I sound childish I am just scared and don't have anyone I can talk to about the situation. I am going to get a test done this week.

Thank you all in advance for your support I really could use some at this time.

White furry tongue sounds like possible Thrush symptoms (Candida, yeast infection).  Should see an ENT specialist to get whatever it is diagnosed. Also, have you ever been checked for diabetes?

Thank you for the advice. I have some updates on what is now happening.

My tongue is no longer burning. All over only at the base like where the tongue meets the tonsils, that corner area is really red and tender  (I have a lot of scare tissue from having my tonsils removed about 3 years ago). Now my tongue is white and it seems fury, as if little patches of mold or fungus is growing on it. The white stuff extends all the way back down my throat. In addition, my mouth sometimes itches. Is that normal? Also I have acid reflex which causes me to vomit usually a couple times in the month.

As Grace said, avoid some kinds of foods. (ie: spicy foods etc can trigger)
Eating yogurt (not the frozen kind) can sometimes sooth it a little. I'll eat it and let it sit on my tongue for a few seconds before swallowing. Yogurt is good for your mouth and tongue anyway.

It's beleived by some doctors that a deficiency of Vitamin B can contribute to glossitis. So you could start taking Vitamin B or Biotin suppliments to help. But I've never really seen much of an effect for me one way or another. But it can't hurt.

There are some topical applications that can be bought at a drug store to possibly help sooth burning on the tongue.
I believe there are also some mouth rinses you can buy as well. (They basically numb the tongue a little). Pharmacist will be able to tell you more about these type of remedies.

Biggest thing you can do is avoid eating too much spicy foods with a lot of seasoning etc or not eating out too much (I personally feel some of the stuff they put in restaurant foods triggers all sorts of stuff in our bodies) Eating more bland type foods will help.

Also, I've noticed for me, that bouts of acid reflux will cause my geographic tongue to flare up.
Geographic tongue is also medically known as "Benign Migratory Glossitis"

avoid any foods that seem to be a trigger. really nothing else you can do at this point. continue to follow up with your medical providers as needed.

Thank you very much. I will look into it. It seems like it just happened so fast, I would say within a month in a half. It has calmed down a lot. I just can't eat certain foods anymore. Do you have any suggestions on how to manage the issue?

Thank you for the advice.

Also, don't let the pictures you find online alarm or fool you, because just like herpes pictures, most of them are very extreme and even retouched and color adjusted in some cases to look worse than they are. My geographic tongue is nowhere as extreme looking as some of those online photos. Mine just affects the two front sides of tip of the tongue and sometimes the sides of the tongue.

The issue with the irritation on the tip of your tongue and the edges sounds like it could be glossitis. In particular, a form called 'geographic tongue'. You can find information and pictures online. I've had the condition myself for many years. It's harmless. Caused by stress and sometimes certain foods.

See an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist to possibly diagnose & confirm.
