Oral Hsv 1 Shedding

Grace,

You've stated in previous posts that oral hsv 1 sheds from the mucous membranes on the face.  I recently had an oral outbreak.  Does this mean that I not only was shedding the virus from my lips (where the sore was) but the nasal cavity and the cavities of the ears as well?

I don't think that I've seen shedding studies for nasal area and oral area as far as shedding from nose with active oral lesions.  not like anyone would be putting their tongue up your nose when you have a cold sore for instance anyways right?

Thanks Grace. One more quick question. I've read that if you have a nasal cold sore, you also shed in the oral cavity. Theoretically shouldn't the opposite ring true. If you have an oral cold sore, would you also be shedding from the nasal area?
