Oral herpes transmission questions

Good people.
My question is is it possible to catch oral herpes non skin to skin contact?
Maybe best if I ask in a form of situation.
I was at a coffee show and the waitress had a outbreak on her lip.
If a droplet of her spit accidentally went in our drinks could we contract herpes.
I've got nothing against herpes, I just wonder if I should prepare myself.
Thank you!

You are way overthinking this and this scenerio is far more than just a reach. Whitlow is very rare for a reason. Forget whitlow as you won't ever get it from casual contact.

This is a zero risk encounter. You will not contract hsv in such a manner. Even sharing a drink is no risk. Without kissing or oral sex hsv1 is not a concern

Thank you.
But do you maybe know what are the chances of catching herpetic whitlow on hand if shaking hand with someone who has it. For instance if you have small red wounds cause your skin is dry.
But your wound doesn't touch the part of skin where the whitlow is and you wash it soon.
The type of wound is the kind which hurts when washing hand, cause of dry skin?
Thank you very much.

Hi Wrestler156, I really feel like you have nothing to worry about. I have been doing some extensive research on transmission and from what I read the herpes virus is contagious from direct contact. One website I read said that the virus does not survive long outside the body. I am not a Doctor just giving advice. If you’re that concerned the best thing to do is get tested.
