hello
what kind of exams i do need to check my swelling lymph nodes? btw i have more than one swelling lymph nodes and i think its from an infection, thanks
I doubt that herpes would cause swelling of the lymph node for nine months. However, if you have swelling of a single lymph node for 9 months, you definitely need to get that checked out to rule out more serious problems than herpes. I hope you will do that.

Hi, after a year of unprotected sex, i have been tested positive for herpes 1, i was thinking i got HIV because of my related hiv symptoms... in that year i have been tested negative for hiv antibodies 3 times and dna pcr one time...after a year now of my infection of herpes 1, i still have swollen lymph nodes for over 9 months, and a sore on my inside upper gum...
is the herpes could cause swollen lymph nodes on my neck for too long ( over 9 months) or it should be from another virus? thanks please help
I'm sorry, but nothing that you added to this post changes my opinion. I would say if you are continuing to have pain, you will want to go to see a clinician right away. From the intensity of your posts, it must be very uncomfortable!

Please help!
Still having groin pain, overall burning sensation in penis... any ideas or suggestions?
Also, on the night of 11/12, a really terrible thing happened and the girl I'm dating was almost raped by a "friend." I know that the neighbors came in when they heard her scream. She told me about it, but said that he did not get her underwear off or penetrate her at all before the neighbors came in. (Unfortunately, she refused to file charges...urgh...)
I slept with her again on the night of 11/13 after she told me that he did not penetrate her at all. In the late afternoon of 11/14 is when my symptoms showed up. I'm not asking you to pass any judgment as to whether she was truthful or not, but from a medical point of view, is it possible for STD symptoms to appear less than 24 hours after exposure? (She has not had symptoms, and, again, I'm almost positive she's telling the truth, but I just thought I'd ask from a medical point of view.) Thanks again.
My suspicion (my fear, really) is that, if I did catch anything, it was from the 10/24 encounter, 21 days before the symptoms appeared. Thoughts?
Thanks so much again.
Thanks Terri
Basically, I have the tingling for about one-third of every single day now. It's like it's underneath the skin at a certain spot on my penis (near the frenulum). Sometimes I also feel a general burning through my penis. I have found that it is emotional/stress-related (after I eat a meal or am not focused on it quite as much, it subsides), but herpes is aroused by stress, so I can't rule out herpes by it.
Re: Masturbation - not using any product, but the skin irritation/redness is mildly exacerbated by masturbation. (But more than it ever occurred when I was growing up and masturbating often.) My penis skin just gets really dry, in addition to the tingling inside at certain spots.
Re: Pre-Cancerous cells - I know these aren't caused by herpes, but I was wondering if they could possibly be transmitted and have gotten in my penis somehow.
And lastly, the groin pain tends to only be when I first wake up in the morning. It lasts about 20-30 minutes and goes away.
Hope you can figure it out!
(If you don't mind, could I also post this for Drs. Hook and Hansfield in the STD forum? I'd like to know what they think as well.)
Thanks in advance.
Just so you know, none of the clinicians on the STD or herpes websites view pictures. Too much like practicing medicine over the internet which we are not doing here.
Doing an IgG antibody test at 13 weeks out will give you very good information, yes, certainly. If it is negative, I think it will stay that way. I do like 16 weeks from possible infection, but a negative at 13 weeks is very good. I would not take Valtrex at this point as it could potentially impact the antibody test. Taking Lysine is fine, it doesn't work to treat herpes so will have no impact on the test. You aren't having back to back outbreaks, I don't believe, and likely masturbation will have no impact on this unless you are using a product for lubrication that might be irritating you and causing these symptoms. If your current partner has never been tested for herpes, then I don't know if she could have herpes or not. Precancerous cells are not caused by herpes, they are caused most often by HPV, another virus.
I honestly can't think of what might be going on with you, but it doesn't sound like herpes at all to me.
