Partner with HSV-1

I just got in a relationship and  before we started having sex, he came to me and told me he got HSV-1 a couple years ago. I was ok with this but I wanted to know if me and him could have kids together without me becoming infected. Please help me with this concern. Thank you.

tkjames,

Hi, you never state in your post if he has it genitally, But lets assume he does, more than likely you have been exposed already to hsv1 about 80% of the adult population has been.  What you really need to do is both of you get testing done to see what your status is.  Especially you, find out if you have ever been exposed.  If you have both been exposed to type 1 then there really is no need to change your sex life since it is rare for him to pass it to you genitally if you already have been exposed.  Hope this helped Take care!
