Penis Sensitivity

The day before yesterday (in the evening) I thought I felt my boxer shorts rub the top of my penis. I examined it and it felt tender. It turned the top (one side) a little red. I left it alone, went to sleep, and woke up and most of the redness was gone. I kept checking it to make sure all was well and everything looked normal.

So oddly, that side of the top of my penis is very sensitive. It doesn't hurt or feel pain at all but feels sensitive. Everything on it looks normal (no obvious redness like the first evening). I sleep fine at night and it all looks normal down there. I have been using cortisone but haven't noticed any difference. This is technically the 3rd day.

The reason I ask in this forum is because I was dating someone who was HSV 1/2 positive but always wore protection and the condom was certainly protecting where the sensitivity is. She did perform oral sex but had no cold sores or any such signs (I checked). We were last together over 2 months ago. Oh, I have had no other symptoms that I can speak to.

Is this applicable to HSV or any other STD?

Thank you in advance.

That's not a sign of hsv. You can get an igg blood test.

My thoughts are that with nothing you describe sounding like hsv. Testing negative at nine weeks. I wouldn't retest at twelve. Move forward without concern for genital herpes.

Correction 8 weeks not 9. I miscounted the weeks. I tested negative for HSV1 as well which is good since I heard most people have that. I am debating testing again at a later date. I still have some sensitivity but the redness has decreased. Sensitivity seems to come and go depending on the day. Now looks like 2 faint pink areas.

I would suggest a dermatologist. Hsv isn't the cause. It could just be a very minor irritation. Or nothing at all.

Went and got tested just to be sure.
HSV1 & 2 = Negative at 9 weeks. I know they say 12 weeks but it's right at 9 right now. Thoughts?
Oh and the last encounter (9 weeks prior) was oral and vaginal and vaginal was fully protected (full condom).

It changes nothing. This surely isn't hsv related. My comment was if you get lesions, you will not have to inspect so closely to notice them. Meaning...whatever your seeing isn't herpes.

Ahh ok that makes sense. It's odd because if I look close I can see some redness still there but if I leave it alone for a while it looks normal-ish. Each time I got to the bathroom, I can see it again and turns a little more red. I am kinda baffled at this one. Going on 6 days and it's just this odd faint red patch that is painless with no other symptoms.

If you get hsv lesions you won't have to strain to see them.

Update... The redness on the top has decreased (very light now) and the sensitivity is gone. The shaft was a little sensitive for a couple of days but has gone away. It has been 4 days and I should have seen more distinct redness and lesions -- which never appeared. No itching or tingling around or on the area and no irritation. It never got worse each day and seems to be going away. Is it safe to say this isn't herpes based on the above?
Question about your comment... so when you say "if I get lesions" confuses me. It's been 5 days and it's the same. I have to use both thumbs on my penis to see anything (separate the skin) and it just looks like tiny red dots that aren't bumps that are so small it's hard to see them. They are random and not in clusters (per some research I did). Does this change anything?

Ok thank you. If I really look hard I can still see some slight redness but it's difficult to see. I do have anxiety about this stuff and thought since I was with someone who was HSV2 positive that I might have something related.

Ok so interesting... the sensitivity is 100% gone (at 1.5 weeks) but the pink and red spots (when you stretch the head of the penis) are still there but are a visual annoyance with no discomfort or anything. Scattered around and not one particular area. I did test negative at almost 8 weeks for HSV2 (and 1 - since my last encounter - 12 weeks since first encounter). Going on now for over 2 weeks with this. Confusing.

What's weird is the sensitivity is still there and my boxers rub on it seem to irritate it. If I stretch my penis I can see redness but if you look at it normally it looks OK but with some slight pinkish areas in a couple of places. Not sure if it's getting better or not. Tried cortisone cream but that didn't help. Didn't make it worse but didn't help. Going on 1.5 weeks now.

I know this can be frustrating but hsv is not the cause. I actually get sensitivity like you dwscribe on a small area as well
