Positive HSV2 test but never sexually active

Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Recently I took my 16 year old to the Dr due to a boil on her genitals. The nurse tested her for herpes since she said there also appeared to be a possible rash.  HSV test came back positive, we retested since she says she has never had any type of intercourse.  I found out in 2015 that have HSV but me or my daughter just don't understand how she could have contracted HSV2. I don't understand what happen, please help

What kind of test was performed? Was it a blood test, if so what type of test? Was a swab taken of the sore on her genitals? I find it extremely hard to fathom that she contracted the virus from you.

Wow that's extremely odd. Hopefully she received a false positive.
