unprotected sex with hsv2 positive female 6 weeks ago

I am 37 old male, had unprotected sex with an hsv2 positive female 6 weeks ago, who had no outbreaks at the time we had sex. She only told me after we have done it that she has hsv2 despite the fact that I had asked her if she was clean and she said "yes all good". I started feeling a burning sensation on the tip of my penis about a week after we had sex it was very mild hardly noticeable felt it on and off for a few days at a time, now it is getting more noticeable. I have no visible lesions or any blisters, no pain when i pee. I only notice the sensation when I am sitting down or laying down. It has been 6 weeks. Could I have contacted herpes despite the lack of visible signs? I just got a blood test done and waiting for results, I'm very scared.

Well a 6 week negative igg test is great news because 50 percent of people test positive after 3 weeks. So 6 weeks is like 70 percent of people would test positive at the 6 week mark. Search on the website and you’ll see that answer from the experts. Also you could ask the experts a question at the asha website. You’re fine.

Can someone please help me? The urine culture came back negative for all bacterial infections, but there are white blood cells  and red white cells found. Could this be due to herpes despite the lack of visible symptoms, except for the burning sensation which has been going on for 2 to 3 weeks? Can a doctor please chime in?

I got my blood test results today, HSV2 IGG < 0.2 which means negative, I hope this is accurate. I will have to retest again at 16 weeks mark to confirm this result. I am relieved for now, but still unsure about the accuracy of this test at this stage, especially due to the persistent burning sensation on the tip of my penis which is freaking me out. Is there a possibility the antibodies are still not high enough to show up? Any expert advice would be much much appreciated.

I also did a urine and semen culture to check for all possible bacterial STDs and prostatitis which might be causing the burning sensation, I will keep you guys updated.

thank you

That’s good news! You’re definitely smart for doing the test again at the recommended 16 week mark since it can take up to 4 months to produce enough antibodies to show up. Let us know what your culture shows up!

It’s harder for a woman to pass it to a man. Without an outbreak present, if she’s on no meds, and no protection used...  The statistic show if a couple has sex 2 times a week for a year you’ll only have either a 4 or 5% chance of catching it under those circumstances each year. If she’s one daily meds for it, it’s even lower.

So why am I experiencing those symptoms if it's a low chance? I read that viral shedding happens a lot between outbreaks which makes me extremely worried
Well you are correct. I was raped back in august and after 2 weeks tested had all std testing done. When I went back to my doctor for yearly exam she suggested I get another round of test done to be sure nothing popped up. I had no idea I needed to be tested again. Sure enough I tested positive for Hsv2, never any symptoms. But my bf and I had unprotected sex hundreds of times before I was diagnosed and he tested clean. So I never passed it on to him. I’m hoping that’s the same case for you.  I mean there’s always a chance but you could just have a bacterial infection or something like that. I’m hoping everything turns out ok with you. I would ask her if she’s on daily meds to prevent transmission. That’s really ****** for her not to tell you! I feel for you. Hoping you get your results soon! They say it can take up to 4 months to show positive on an IGG blood test because you need enough time for your body to build up antibodies for it. If you test negative, it would still be smart to test again in a couple more months just to be sure.
Thank you for replying, and sorry to hear about your story. Unfortunately she's not on meds, she only takes meds during outbreaks. Yes it is pretty unethical and deceitful of her to not tell me and wait until after the fact to tell me.  I am constantly panicking and unable to sleep at night because of it. I hope my symptoms are something else of I'm that lucky. The burning sensation is freaking me out, so far no visible signs tho.
