Many people with an existing oral HSV1 infection say often do not recall their first outbreak. Probably because the symptoms are so light and the lesions are so small to be interpreted as a pimple or ingrown hair etc. These people are unlikely to experience symptoms much beyond what the sores bring, so very rarely will there be leg pains for example.
Most people when they are first infected with a type of HSV experience noticeable lesions 2-10 days post infection.
so most people that experience ob;s have a noticable first infection (primary) and re occurence? Ive heard of people noticing symptoms years later.. is this true?
This would all be very unlikely to be herpes. If you are approach 12 weeks since last sexual contact, then a blood test will accurately tell you your status.
It is pretty likely that you would have experienced symptoms 2-10 days after infection. If we are talking two months then the chances are this has nothing to do with the sexual encounter.
nothing in the last 2 weeks.. havent had any sexual encounters since may.. I was concerned maybe this was a mild reoccurence coming on that Im just noticing now
Not really, but to help, we need to understand more.
When did the symptoms first start appearing? Looks like early July? It's too long now since the possible infection to be a primary outbreak.
What was your sexual history in the two weeks leading into the symptoms appearing?
No but I am concerned about it.. had swabs done and all negative. They dont recommend a blood test and its not free here. When I look up prodome symtoms leg pain is apparently common but Ive had it for 3 days... not sure if prodome symptoms last that long
Have you been diagnosed with genital herpes?
I never have, the area that the cold sore emerges starts to feel a bit tingly and reddens. This is just hours before it's an outbreak. I wouldn't think this leg pain is related.
thanks for the reply.. so if its a reoccuring OB that you just noticed... would you get the leg pain for days before OB? Its been 3 days
No, prodrome symptoms usually involve the area from which an outbreak will occur perhaps some associated symptoms. This is also unlikely to occur with an initial outbreak following infection.
