Prodrome and keeping my family safe

Hello, thank you for this great site and for taking my question. I'm 34 hedro male. 6.5 weeks post possible exposure of unprotected oral and vaginall. Been to the walk in clinic several times and nothing yet. Experiencing a lot of prodrome sensations on mustache area, nostrils, sometimes chin and random face spots on and off for maybe 5 weeks as well as a little itchy or rashly feeling in groin area. No breakouts but I sometimes get a pimple where I feel prodrome on my mustache but not all the other pimples on my face feel like that.  And the sensations are on and off daily driving me nuts. It can't be in my head. Very very scared of exposing my baby boy and a newborn coming in a couple weeks. Most great-full for any insight.... Will be testing again at 12 weeks.
Thank you!

8 weeks would be a good indicator and herpes are not red dots and the inner thighs would not be a place for a first time outbreak.

Hi there. I'm definitely not an expert, so I may be of no help to you at all. Are you concerned about giving your kids HSV1 orally? Did you just find out you have HSV1? We seem to be in similar personal situations, sadly, so I get your anxiety and stress over this, but I wouldn't worry so much about HSV1 and passing it on to your family. You've likely had this for a long time. I also just found out at 6.5 weeks post exposure that I am positive for HSV1 as well, which I believe I've carried for a long time despite never having a cold sore. I've never kissed or shared fluids with someone in my adult life with sores or scabs on their face. I have children and a family too and I've always kissed and loved on them and we share food and drinks all the time. Of course, I never worried about it until I "knew" I had type 1 .... but really, this should not affect how you interact with your loved ones. If you break out with obvious cold sores, obviously don't kiss your kids or anyone else! In the meantime, I think your fine to show affection.

As for your concern over HSV2, you wouldn't ever pass that on to your children if you have it, at least I hope not. That would be a way  bigger issue.

I'm retesting at 12 weeks and am praying my results are still negative. I would recommend you do the same.

Good luck to you!

Hi I'd like to get some info please. Had 2 negative blood tests. Last one was a week and half ago at 6 weeks. My question is when should I go back and should I get a swab done now? Asking because I've had a red raised bump on my penis shaft against my testicles for a week that I can feel that it's there without looking but it's not painful but having much anxiety. Swolen glands in neck,  one side more then other. Skin around groin feels irritated but see nothing. Ears ringing loudly for weeks. Also my ears throat and armpits don't hurt but don't feel right. Also little pimples not clustered on inner thighs like when running a lot maybe, but with slight burn and itch.   not clustered on Does this sound familiar. Please help. Thank you

You have to under stand that having tingling is a sign of a pending outbreak from someone who already has herpes and if youve never had a lip or face sore its very well not herpes related and for sure having it constant for 5 weeks is not herpes related without a sore developing. However many people have hsv1 from childhood and caught it much in the same concern as you have.
Testing at 3 months would be conclusive, untill then dont kiss the baby if you have a lip sore as viral lip shedding for someone positive does not occur that often. Most shedding occurs from genital hsv2.
After the 3 months test comes back negative, kiss your child all you want.

Hi again, I know you can't validate my concern either way, but if all this itching and tingling around my mustache and nostrils was herpes how can I keep my babies safe. Especially a newborn in a few weeks. I haven't kissed my boy in over a month... Insane?
Didnt previously have hsv because my 6 wk test results from yesterday were negative.... Thanks so much

Thanks again for your help Life360. I was tested 2 days ago at 6 weeks for everything. Just called and everything was negative. I know you said it's early but also read there's a decent chance of that time frame on here. I guess why I wrote today was because I don't see how these feeling could be coincidence because I never had this before. And I didn't know if I should take precaution around my family, because of possible shedding etc. maybe I didn't notice the outbreak? Don't mean to exhaust this but I've never been this close to the edge you know. Thank you

Hi, prodrome is a term used for those who already have herpes and is a tool to predict coming outbreaks so if your wondering if this is from the recent affair it would not. Also constant prodrome with no sore developing would be some other nerve issue not associated with herpes
You may already have oral herpes as most people do get it in early childhood.
Let us know how the test turns out.
By the way, since you had unprotected oral and vaginal intercourse youll need to test for all std,s including HIV for your wifes protection
