Tested +ve for HSV1 after 2weeks from exposure

Hello All

Recently i had a short unprotected oral sex from someone i didnt know in a bar (pretty much intoxicated by the alcohol) and 2 weeks later i went for a full STD screening the result are -ve for gonorhea, chlamydia, RPR, Candandia antibody and IgG Ab - HSV2  but it's +ve for IgG Ab - HSV1, i do not have any visible symptoms of herpes currently. My question is, is it too soon for hsv1 antibody to develop in 2 weeks time from exposure or did I contract the hsv1 from my childhood if the 2 weeks time is impossible for hsv1 antibody to develop this soon. the test was done by Quest. and i plan to get tested for HSV 3 months later, just to ensure. i need some guidance here

Thanks for the respond

Hmmm, I went on that site and did not exactly find the link to that information. Do you  happen to have it by chance?

Hey grace i also tested positive a week after oral sex. Hsv1 positive the score was 29.40 could this be a recent or past infection?

about half of folks will test + within 2 -3 weeks of infection.  typically when you contract hsv1 genitally you have pretty obvious symptoms so it's not likely you contracted hsv1 genitally if you did contract it from this encounter.

these rashes do not sound at all like a syphilis rash.

see your provider about your new rashes. can be from sweating ( from anxiety about all of this ), can be fungal, can be folliculitis  or any number of things.  are you showering daily?

so is there any known case where hsv1 antibody detected in 2 weeks after the exposure?
and regarding rash, in slyphis, the rash only appears on 2nd stage right? the 1st stage from what i know is a blister on somewhere around the penis. i am a lil bit concerned about the pimple-like rashes, im quite stressed out too n maybe not hygenic enough.

rashes on the chest and stomach aren't due to herpes.

Odds are your hsv1 was prior to this encounter. Most adults do test + for hsv1 whether they can recall ever having had a cold sore before or not.  You've had no obvious genital symptoms so no reason to think it's genital.

Really no reason to repeat any std testing at all. Oral sex is relatively low risk.

There are mulitple posts in the expert forums in both herpes and std. You can use pubmed.gov and search for the accuracy done on tests.

So, Mistakeguy, where did you find out the "accuracy" rates of getting tested? Like you told him 50% in 2 weeks, where did you find that information at?

The numbers are
> 3.50 for HSV Type 1 IgG Ab
0.11 for HSV Type 2 IgG Ab

i cant remember I had a cold sore before as i didnt pay much attention to it.
and the time of the test is about 2 weeks from the exposure.

Grace pls take a look at this..

Thanks a lot

HSV-1 is a common infection.  2-4 week testing will show about 50% of new infections if I recall my stats right. So you could very well have been positive.  However, could you post the result from your HSV-1 test. What we are looking for is the number so it is something like 1.43 H or something of that nature.  Might want to have grace take a look at it and see what she thinks.  Sadly bloodwork won't show where the infection is at. Do you ever remember having a coldsore?
