Red itchy spots on buttock

I have red itchy spot on my buttock.  Sometimes just one, sometimes two.  Sometimes on the left side and sometimes on the right.  It takes about 5 to 7 days to heal. This happens all the time, 7 to 10 days after healing.  I don't know what the causes.  They just happen, especially after sitting down for a long time.  They left the trace of marks behind on the skin.  Are they herpes?

follow up at this point with a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your status is. Darn shame your providers haven't followed up on this for you over the last 10 years.

Hi Grace,

I went to see a doctor more than 10 years ago and was tested negative, but the doctor said sometimes the test may not give the exact result.  He thought it was herpes, but I still have doubt.  I heard that herpes always come back in the exact place when it first infected.  My red spots seem to come up in different places.  I used to have just one on one side of my buttock.  Now, after all these years, it can turn up any side and any area around my buttock.

you need to go and be seen and get a proper work up done the next time you have symptoms. these could be any number of things going on.

have you ever been tested for herpes?
