Thank you so much for those statics Grace. I printed the handbook out, but did not get a chance to read thru the entire book.
if you are a hsv2+ female with a hsv2 negative male partner, if you did nothing but avoid sex any time you have obvious genital symptoms, he is 96% likely each year NOT to contract hsv2 from you. If you also take daily suppressive therapy and use condoms along with that precaution, he's 99% likely each year on average NOT to contract hsv2 from you.
did you read the handbook yet? it's all in there :)
Do you know the risk of having unprotected sex and transmitting genital herpes to your partner?
no reason for blood work if you get oral herpes lesions to know that you have hsv1 orally and had a + lesion culture for hsv2 genitally.
has your partner been tested to know their status?
totally up to you and a partner whether to have unprotected oral or not. Overall the risk is low of transmission but it's a decision to make together.
I had a culture of the sore swab. Do you think i should get blood work?
Also, do you know where I can get Terri's handbook?
Hi Grace,
Thank you for your response. So if i havent had an OB in some time my partner is not in jeopardy if we had oral sex without protection. Also, do you know how often the body sheds?
it's the exact same risk as for someone who gets obvious lesions on their actual genitals. When you have ob's on the buttocks, you shed the virus from the area of the ob as well as from the anal/genital area. You also shed periodically from the anal/genital area in between obvious recurrences too.
have you ever read terri warren's free herpes handbook?
grace
Shedding rates are found in the handbook as well.
How were you originally diagnosed as having herpes?
