Yes, you're right, the only way to know for sure that a certain bump is caused by herpes is a swab test, but it would be a fairly safe bet that recurrent blister-like bumps are herpes in the presence of a positive blood test.
To sum up: get a blood test now, and have a swab test done the next time the bumps recur. Cover all bases.
Hi, the only way to confirm 100% if your sores are herpes is to have them swabbed and cultured within 48 hours after appearing. Having a blood test will only confirm that you have herpes but will not confirm where you have it and will not answer the question about your sores. If you test blood positive it would only assume they are herpes coupled with a doctors visual examination of them.
I hate to come in here correcting regular posters, but Life360 is not necessarily correct. Doctors do not always test for herpes during pregnancy.
I'd say that your symptoms sound worrisome for herpes, but the only way to confirm would be a type-specific IgG blood test. Knowing for sure has to be better than the constant anxiety of wondering.
Hi, of course only testing would confirm, and a swab would be best but herpes sores are clear liquid not yellow puss filled. Also they dont last only 3 days but takes a couple of weeks to scab over and heal and are only on one side. Really appears from shaving.
Also if it started after your chikd you would have been tested negative at the time as they test for this in pregnancy.
